Got an email saying my Model S will be delivered Q3 2022 (best case) but still on the fence if I want it.

1000bhp sounds insane and I don’t think it will ever get boring but eventually you do get used to speed. Will I miss my V8 daily? It’s pretty much fast enough but will never sound as good as the old pre opf cars. Anyone else got a plaid on order and worried they will miss ice? (Daily car not weekend toy)

I’m surprised you got an email, or would be surprised if it was accurate since they’ve stopped taking orders outside the US, and before the usual crew shout “they sell everything they make”, there are literally hundreds of plaid available as new inventory in the US right now. There seems to be something else going on.

Having had a MS P90D with ludicrous and hitting 60 in under 3 seconds, it’s just uncomfortable on a daily basis to use that much, the plaid will be worse if you tried to. They’ve improved the suspension a bit, but they were never fun cars in the corners which I missed more than the noise.

See them more as a V12 7 series BMW, big S class or bug engined A8 rather than a sports model of those brands (M8, AMG or RS6) and you’ll be closer to the mark, and it’s nowhere near as refined inside,

So to answer your question, it’s not just the noise, it’s the driving dynamics you’ll miss if you like a well sorted fast exec car that handles a little. If straight line speed does it for you mixed with a school boy attraction to computer games then it’s perfect.

Had the same email (although the later ones that went out removed any mention of dates). Still hoping for end of 2022, but who knows. Tesla seem to be introducing redesigned rear lamp units with integrated CCS ports (like the 3 and Y), so perhaps this is a cause for a slight delay.

Personally I'm extremely excited about the car. I don't even miss ICE cars with a 3 Performance, so have zero doubts about the S Plaid.

Another thing to consider is the price. I ordered on day one and it subsequently went up £10k. You can bet that when it goes back on sale it'll rise again. It's still a lot of money of course, but it does feel like very good value.

These are the new lights:

I take it you've never driven a Model S then. The Model 3 and Model S are very very different.

I have, although admittedly it was a while ago. For sure it's no sports car, but nor are new M5s or RS6s really.

I’m not too interested in the 0-60 as when I drove the 3 P it made me feel sick after a few pulls. Much more interested in the 30-70 time as this is where I felt the 3 lacked and felt boring.

I've got a deposit down but no email. I thought the Cybertruck would arrive before the Plaid so I have a deposit on that too.

One final hurrah in petrol madness coming in January to tide me over then its bye bye ICE forever.

What have you gone for? I'm tempted by a GR Yaris until the Plaid arrives, but refuse to pay over list so it might not happen. hehe

I think really small chance we'll ever get the Cybertruck over here in its current form at all.

Especially as Musk has already said it won’t be.

Does beg the question why they're taking £100 off people to reserve one then. hehe

That question has been asked more than once.
But then some people pay thousands on NFTs and I think the CT aren’t dissimilar motivation plus on some peoples app it makes them look cool to 10 year old boys.

Another Ultima GTR. It seems that after 20 years of absence I was missing something laugh

Agree about Cybertruck. I think its too big for our road anyway but if they come here I still want to own one.
