I see Q4 delivery cars have an increased range of 300 miles on the newly dubbed Model 3 (previously SR+).

Surely this makes a long range less desireable given the significant price difference?

+60miles range
a lot faster
AWD

seams reasonable for £6,500 more

its the performance for 10k more that looks bad value atm

The LR will also charge faster than the SR+ I believe?

100% agree the Performance really struggles to justify itself now IMHO. Needs better seats, adaptive suspension etc. to really differentiate itself from the LR as 20" wheels, red brakes, stiffer suspension, a bit more performance and a carbon boot spoiler are nowhere near not worth the £11.5k uplift currently being asked over the LR.

When we got ours the price difference was barely anything. No way I'd pay what they are currently asking.

The standard version always have the best value if it fit your daily use
the LR have better acceleration, more option come in standard, extra range if you need and better sound system, with Model 3 RWD price go up to 41K, and LR remain, the price of LR don't seem too far off for all the extra you get

Looks like the 2021 SR+ not only charges slower than the LR but it's also slower than the 2020 SR+.

So they've moved away from LFP in the SR+ already? That didn't last long...

Latest RWD (which replaces the SR+) appears to have the following changes:

  • slightly bigger LFP battery (60 kWh)
  • performance motor replaced with motor from Model Y
  • slower by 0.5 sec to 60
  • rear heated seats included (without having to pay for upgrade)
  • heated steering wheel included (2021 SR+ may well have the hardware and only need a software upgrade, but not confirmed)
  • price increase by £1K
There are also a few cars ordered before the changes that will keep the original motor but get a slightly slower 0-60 due to the increased weight.

In the USA there has been another $1K price rise, coinciding with Midnight Silver Metallic become a free colour option.

Personally I'm happy with my .5 second faster car. LR owners pay £1.5K for that difference as a "boost" option smile

Its still LFP, just a 60kwh battery one, with a slightly lower power more efficient motor.

According to Tesla website Model 3 has inferior sound system, no heated steering wheel and only front heated seats.

I must say that whenever I’m looking at the specs and prices, the LR seems the obvious choice and as others have said, hard to justify the performance on any level.

That's good. Hard to keep track of which battery chemistry is going where. LFP FTW.

I’ve got a SR plus coming the end of the month. To be clear it’s likely to have more range? That would be a nice to have.

It'll almost certainly have the 60kwh battery, it may or may not have the other bits. if it was 5.6s 0-60 when you ordered then probably not the whole range of the new one, but most of it, these will be pretty rare spec cars.

Looks like increased range comes with increased prices. The base model went up £1k circa 1-2 weeks ago and has just gone up another £1k today.
