Morning,

Looking at buying a Model 3 soon and from the looks of the configurator on their website the option (albeit frikkin expensive) is now no longer there to fit a towbar.

If anyone has recently received a 2021 onward M3 can they check if it's homologated for towing? I wonder if Tesla will have any qualms about getting a 3rd party bar fitted.

Just noticed that too - has to be a good reason or maybe a refresh of the website omitted it?

Or so little demand that they've stopped supplying them.

Tesla don't build cars to order, they build them in batches.

Paint options have gone up by £100.

Interior option has gone up by £100.

Use the Tesla-info website and put tow in the search box, there’s quite a few new inventory cars with the tow bar. Teslas website for ordering is just rubbish some times.

Ooh does that mean I’ve got a special Model 3 tow bar edition. Mighty useful it’s proving too for the bike rack and tip run trailer.

Only if you order one with it. I wouldn’t be surprised if Tesla decided to make 30% of cars with the tow bar, didn’t realise the website wouldn’t let you order one with it and so have lots of cars that they can’t match because the spec is different

You can still select it from inventory.

There were some when I looked yesterday.

Went for my LR test drive yesterday.

Tesla representative said they were stopping selling them, but didn't know the justification.

Ah, already have it, picked up a stock one back in February. I hope the tow bar beam itself is better screwed on than the 13 pin socket, which fell off on first use…

Spoke to them yesterday on this very topic.

Not on website, but available. Order the car and then phone up straight away and request it. £1,500 extra.

The cars are built to order and the tow bar cannot be retro fitted so if you do not phone up before they start building it, that car has no tow bar. He really emphasised that point. But it is available. Not on website due to lack of demand.

As an aside, if you look at autotrader now, there are about 100 model 3's, only one of which has a tow bar. So if you need a tow bar, you need to buy new unless you can be very patient waiting for the right car second hand.
