Tesla Insurance
Discussion
I saw somewhere on YT (a while go, so things may have changed) where somebody pranged a Tesla & had problems getting it repaired due to getting parts. Theirs was still driveable, but I guess insurance companies could be put off paying for hire cars if one was off the road for months.

Definitely direct line. Less than half the price of any comparison quotes
Like all other cars you have to shop around. DL was cheapest for us for 2 years but last year jacked up prices, going from £360 to wanting £640. Currently with LV for £440. Some have got cheaper quotes with Admiral/Churchill, I didn't. Next renewal might be different. Its the same for my wifes Lexus, and every car I have ever owned. If you don't shop around you pay extra for been loyal customer.

Pretty sure this is the reason, the parts take too long to arrive and hence drive up claim costs. Some valid reasons eg repair times. But also lack of data perhaps means some insurers play it safe.
I had renewal quotes ranging from 600 to over 2k with identical info.
The cheapest quote came from A company who I understand are one of the few with authorised Tesla garages and the volume to quote accurately.

Just went and done a quote,
£684.00 fully comp with £200 excess.
Model 3 Performace
Age: low 40's
Claims: None
Points: None
Usage: Business 10000 miles
Stored: Driveway
That's not too bad, still around twice as expensive than my Vantage though with the same info.
This quote was with Admiral BTW.
Edit: Forgot to add which car.

Why on earth are these cars so expensive to insure?
Is it all electric cars or just Tesla models?
Given that a large number of Tesla drivers seem to think it’s a matter of honour to show the masses how quick their cars are, I’m not surprised insurance companies are considering them a relatively high risk. Is it all electric cars or just Tesla models?

Really? This is contrary to my experience, where all Teslas I come across are driven with restrain and some, probably to eek out as many electric miles as possible. Mind you I see them mainly on motorways so probably on autopilot at 68 mph. Bobtherallyfan said:

Where do you get that comment from? I've never seen a Tesla driving agressively, nothing like a BMW driver!Gassing Station | Tesla | Top of Page | What's New | My Stuff
