Just saw this posted on the Tesla Owner's Club site in the US:

"Essentially, man and machine become one unit, connected to the seat of your pants and the back of your jacket. The American automaker has collaborated with the famous manufacturer of Velcro contact surfaces to give you better grip than side supports could ever offer.

“While all performance cars use seat bolsters to hold a driver in place during aggressive maneuvering, we’re taking it a step further. In this case, the technology we’re employing is actually over 75 years old,” said Elon Musk. “The Performance variants are exhilarating, racing-inspired vehicles. By partnering with Velcro Companies, our new V-LCRO technology enhances the driver’s ability to maximize the cars’ track-proven performance.”

Tesla's technology for seat support now far surpasses what the vehicle can handle. It's said that the V-LCRO will resist forces of up to 3.0 G's. However, most vehicles can only achieve 1 G of lateral force.

At a glance, this looks like an ordinary seat with leather upholstery. However, it's also trimmed with Velcro inserts at the top and bottom. A driver must show a genuine commitment to performance to get the most out of the V-LCRO system. What we mean is that the matching Velcro back must be worn. Tesla has teamed up with designers to create tailored suits that will still look good on you.

At launch, the V-LCRO seat will only be available on the Model X & S Performance models, both able to accelerate from 0-60mph in less than 3 seconds. However, the company is open to offering it as part of a further Performance upgrade for Model 3 & Model Y in the future."

No doubt the price will be... a rip off.

Also, can't help but think of this.

What a load of nonsense that is.

Wearing a velcro jacket so you stick to your velcro car seat!

For all the times you have insane g forces in your Tesla on the school run

I’m sure there are plenty of drivers on PH that have shown a ‘genuine commitment to performance driving’ that have never thought ‘I’d have been able to get round that roundabout on the bypass quicker if I’d been Velcro’d to the seat’...
Bet it makes a mess of a cashmere jumper.

A lot of people, including me, are not a big fan of big side bolsters.

Yet it's one of the most common complaints about the TM3P: the lack of side support.

Those few can now get a velcro jacket and stop whining about side bolsters, while I don't have to put up with too skinny seats (as I'm a powerfully built company director)
Win-win.

They could just integrate a straight jacket onto the seat back and do away with seat belts at the same time.

Velcro is a dumb idea. Electromagnets would be much better in the seats, interacting with the metal studs in your denim jacket. They would, of course be de-energized when you are stationary so that you don't get a Velcro ripping sound as you get out of the car. Maybe the seat could charge your heart pacemaker, if you have one, as you travel along...

I love the way people don't seem sure if this thread is a joke or not due to Tesla's wacky past.

Instead of being fked in the ass by the brand and dealer, Tesla could give you the option.
Should pull quite a bit of people who like the classic brands over to the EV side.
