As I type there are a swarm of angry Tesla drivers plugging their cars in so they can come and hammer frozen sausages into your lawn.The_Nugget said:
What’s wrong with using sustainable renewable materials? It’s also resistant to rust.
It's actually wood effect plastic. Not automotive grade plastic mind you, only suitable for domestic use where you don't get the huge temperature fluctuations. They have quality control issues with missing parts from the suspension too.

I’d imagine that they have a parts supply issue due to volume. The workers must be pine-ing for some parts.

Going to jump in on this one..... I dont care what people say, build quality matters.
If Toyota can churn out 99% of their cars with excellent build quality and almost no errors or mistakes for a car (boring it might be) that is half or even a quarter of the price, I expect something that is $50k or more to be good. Now, I know that Tesla really do make the best EV's on the market in almost all of the measurable aspects, and I am not taking that away from them. But seriously, missing paint, dodgy panel fit, bumpers that dont line up, interior trim that drops off and now random parts from a DIY place used to secure things - yeah, that doesnt fly.
"But it just works" is the cry. Yeah, I dont buy that either. It does today. But what about tomorrow, or next year or the next owner. Some Tesla's are built well, and thats great. But when it comes to the next owner, buyers will look and get to make a choice. Will they get the one that doesnt quite have a full paint job? Or the one that does? Or that has rear seats that line up correctly? Or that the doors fit correctly..... YOU take the bath on the extra hit of depreciation, not Tesla. They get the privilege of churning out a sub-par car that you paid the premium for and you get to pay the price for their bad building.... while someone else (through the luck of the draw) gets a decent built one that doesnt. Yeah, I dont agree with that.
And then there is the long term reliability and build of the car. I thought the big thing for EV's is that they are more 'sustainable'? You know, recycling, lasts longer, fewer parts and so on. Exactly how long will the interior last when its falling apart? Or the paint when its clearly not applied correctly or 1/3 of the required thickness? Are we expecting these things to last 10 years? I live in California and the sun causes havok on cars that are left in it for years - peeling clearcoat, discolored paint etc. Cars last because no salt on the roads, but the paint falls off - you drop $50k on a car and in 4-5 years the clearcoat is peeling and its discolored? Yeah, screw that. If I can get a Toyota that will last and look good over the time of my ownership, I expect (no, actually I DEMAND) that a Tesla should too.
'Yeah, but they do 0-60 in less than 3 seconds' - couldnt care, I just want the interior to not fall apart and the paint to last - and thats before finding dodgy DIY home store parts holding the stuffing thing together!
