What's going on with Tesla inventory cars just now?

No used MS, no new M3.

Some of the inventory MS are listed as having £0 residual value.

Have been tracking prices last couple of months as was considering a late 2016 MS, suddenly there's nothing there!

There is a rumour Tesla UK is no longer going to be doing offical used cars, there are people who have put down a £4k deposit on CPO cars and been waiting 60 days+ for delivery.

People have accused Tesla of artificially keeping used prices high in the past, but this hasn't been true for a while now as the CPO cars have often been cheaper than private sale but with addition of warranty.

No idea how this will effect used prices, Extended Warranty is also no longer been offered in the UK.

It happens from t8me to time, Tesla uk have an issue raising invoices on used cars so may have t@ken the view to remove most from sale. They may have shipped 5hem all to auction to get some cash. I also wouldn’t be surprised if the person responsible is just on holiday.

Historic price trends are now included in each detail page on the site listed below and you can sign up to email notifications when the inventory gets listed. I wouldn’t be surprised if most of the cars reappear.

As for new M3 inventory, I doubt any significant numbers will appear until Feb as they’ll be making them now and they need to ship them (they tend not to get listed until they land in the country). They try to minimise goods in transit so making in Dec and shipping to Europe for Jan doesn’t look good on their books, not to mention Dec was the last month for US tax credits so they’d want those out the door.

There’s going to need to be a new shorthand for ‘Model 3’, BMW were there first!

Nah, the new name will displace the legacy tech.

When someone says wireless do you think of radios from the 1920s or networking from the 2000s? smile

Thanks for that link, useful.

It's been a couple of weeks and still no used cars on Tesla UK site so I'm inclined to believe they've stopped selling cpo. I'm not really surprised, they're an internet business and the admin involved in selling used cars can't be worth the effort for them.

So many questions and exceptions on used kit, just leave it to the existing used market specialists to deal with.

Iirc Tesla don't buy back cars, they only consider the return of a used Tesla if the owner is upgrading to a new Tesla and wants to part ex.

So imagine won't be many till leases on model 3 finish.

It’s a quarterly cycle? Volume ramps up to quarter end and is pretty dead in month 1.

There are CPO cars in other countries, they wouldn't just stop selling them in the UK.

They do actually have 1 used car for sale, not that you'd find it using the Tesla website top level listing

Any zero emission car is however you bought it.

What a used car can't claim is 100% FYA in the business but this isn't that significant unless the business is very cash strapped as you only offset the actual depreciation in the fullness of time. (It obviously doesn't get the new car grant either as thats already been claimed)

I'm tempted to put my 2016 MS into my company - just weighing up the loss of 45p a mile and extra hassle v the running costs and depreciation being before profit. And the 0% BIK isn't in law yet, its 2% next year currently as the proposal didn't get into law before the election.

Damn, I found the answer to a burning question in a thread that was off-topic. Thank you for this!

I hadn't considered the losing £0.45p per mile thing. As it's my own company it would be better to go for the tax saving route, but just depends if it is worth the hassle.

I am also v disappointed the approved used Tesla's have disappeared. They were the best prices and the easiest way in to buying a Tesla.

Not only that, they had the all-important warranty. I am going electric this year. I have got an order on a Polestar 2, but if that ends up being too expensive, I was seriously considering a CPO Model S. There's no way I'd buy one without that four year Tesla warranty though.

Allianz do a Tesla specific warranty, but I understand that it's only available for cars that are coming to the end of their existing warranty, so you'll have to find a car with fewer than 50k miles.

I have no idea of the warranty is any good, but when I looked it seemed to explicitly say it covers everything that isn't considered wear and tear.
