If you can wait a while and you love your Fords, have a look at this

Model 3 is hands down the best EV available at the moment though.

Have you got the ability to home charge and what kind of mileage do you do?
I'm sure as a car the LR will be fine coming from a Focus RS, the question is can you live with it long term?
ETA - And why the LR out of interest, not much of a jump to the performance model which would seem to have more in common with the RS?

Should be very useable then assuming you're not doing 200+ miles a day on a regular basis.- Pete
I asked on the LR as it seems to be the least popular model based on the amount of cars available in inventory. You could get one pretty much immediately if any of the specs suit you rather than waiting on a build.

With the performance only being a 10% increase it does appear a lot of owners are going for that. Not surprising when you consider the Germans charge more like 40-50% extra for their top of the range models compared to the next one down (340i - £50k, M3 - £70k+)

You get a lot on the performance, 20” rims, pilot sport 4S tyres, uprated suspension, track mode, more powerful inverter and improved cooling. The perf seams very resistant to performance loss from high battery temps from constant use and high loads.- Pete
The acceleration especially from stand still is bloody stupid
TBH They are all good, I would happily use any of them as a daily, the turn in still blows me away compared to my A45

My wife & I test drove a Model 3 today, and we both really liked it... However I currently have a Ford Focus RS Mk3, so not sure I should go for it.
You both like the car, so what's the worry? If its about Tesla as a company plenty of threads on that and its a pointless 'debate' as you either believe the company will fail or not.
If its about the car it self, again lots of real life owners are on here, and nearly all seem to be saying the same thing.
If its about EVs in general than you only know your own usage, most people I suspect are fine with the range of any Model 3, if you do long distance work trips that may limit you.
If its about spending £50k+ on a small saloon, that again is a personal thing. The temptation to spend more on any car is endless, in real life even a SR+ Model 3 is more than quick enough, and as with all cars the 'best value' car is always the base spec version.
I suspect your apprehension is a combination of all of the above. The reason I bought into a £200/month Nissan Leaf in 2015 instead of a Tesla was partly I was also unsure about Tesla/EVs etc and £200/month was not a lot of money to risk on something I might not enjoy.
The fact 2 years later we dropped £70k+ on another EV when our budget was actually £50k tells you how the Leaf 'trial' period went.
Essentially as virtually every one else has said already, just go for it .

Yet you cancelled your own order for a M3?
Mainly because spending £30k on a LR Model 3 to replace our Lexus which does 6k commuting miles a year made zero financial sense, especially when we are also considering a stupid 6 figure house extension. The majority of our mileage is done in the X, just under 15k a year. I woudlnt swap it for any other car on the market, if it was written off (again) we would still buy another without hesitation.
Everyone's needs and spending limits on cars are different, am very happy with having the EV been our main family car and the combustion car regulated to 2nd car status.
Though if the Lexus was to be written off tomorrow, we would almost certainly get an EV to replace it though, probably not a Model 3, more likely a LR S.
