Model 3 was not. Literally not possible for somebody with feet to get into the car behind me.

Just about to push the 'buy' button on a new model Y from tesla directly, never sat in one or driven one and the nearest tesla centre is 2 hours away.

Im 6'7, and will need child seats/people in the back, think that would be ok?
You'll be fine, they're very spacious inside.

I'd sit in one, the under thigh support can be a little limiting and the side support of the seats isn't that supportive - as someone who's 6'3" I've found the MY ok, but only just. The rear is fine in the MY because the front seats are essentially on stilts with plenty of room for feet beneath the seat and the seat backs recline slightly which give a bit more room. Headroom is also very good (my height is mainly from the trunk rather than legs).

Exactly this. Can you need get third-party squab extenders?

Nothing says you’re a fanboy more than posting “haters gonna hate”

8 year Tesla owner, 2 years an MY owner here, but personally I try to be objective. Theres a lot of good about Tesla, there’s also a lot you get to realise is behind the competition once you e lived with one, wipers, headlights (and yes, we may finally be getting an incarnation of adaptive on the MY as part of release 2024.8.3), suspension, cabin noise v other EVs. And that’s the thing, a lot of what people like about Tesla is what people like about EVs in general.
Don't you think that is rather patronising? Surely being enthusiastic about your car is the very essence of a being a car enthusiast?

Steer group

Very shoddy workmanship

Car has gone back for remedial work of their repairs and I get to use the dreaded eC4 for even longer

I’m the patronising one because I call someone out for accusing those whose response to a criticism is “haters are going to hate”? Yeah, ok, whatever. Nothing like a rational argument

The seat fold button on the seat back, pull it and you”ll be able to adjust the seat back between two positions.

Yes, you are. He wasn't criticising anyone just recognising a lot of people "hate" Teslas because they are Teslas, which as a Tesla owner I am sure you are well aware. I certainly am.

I really didn't like them until I tried one. I then really didn't want to own one because of my feelings about the spaceman and his antics on the world stage. Prob less to do with cars and didn't want to support all of that. But couldn't find a better all round EV for the monthly. Still feel a little wronged I own one, but it's a cracking all rounder.

Glad you are appreciating your model Y, but why feel wronged? Have you ever worried about the antics of the CEO of any of the car brands you have ever bought before? The automotive industry has a history of dodgy behaviour spanning many, many decades.

Tesla is actually an engineering-led company, something that we as car enthusiasts should celebrate. It also explains the somewhat bland aesthetics!

If you are interested, watch the latest Jay Leno's garage where he talks to Tesla's head of engineering and head of design about the new Model 3. Their focus on lightweight, performance, cost and efficiency reminds me of a certain British sports car brand whose current EV efforts seem to be going in the opposite direction...

Found it! Thanks smile The car was delivered with them in the reclined position, so no start-gazing for the kids after all hehe

By the way: I'm conscious I have a month's trial or premium connectivity. The main useful feature for me I can see is the traffic updates onto the maps. I'm wary of using another maps app that has traffic inbuilt (e.g. Apple) as I'll lose the supercharger integration for longer journeys, but I'm not keen on shelling out £10/mo for a feature free by other means. What do you good folks do?

One more thing: is there a way to send a driving route to the car? I've adjust one in Google that I want to enforce (it's not the fastest nor shortest, but runs the lowest risk of delays).

Not AFAIK: you can send the destination via G-Maps, but then the car's going to calculate the routing. However it will take into consideration real time traffic, so it should guide you via the quickest way. In the settings you can set the delay it should consider before directing you on an alternate path: as standard is 5 minutes, I set it to 2 minutes and it superposes exactly on Google's navigation.

You can create a trip under Location in the Tesla app, including additional stops and send that to your car.

Maybe you can send a route as opposed to just a destination, even if its just one with waypoints, but the car now has alternative routes built in so you typically have a couple of options which may or may not be worthwhile.

What I have also found useful is addresses in diaries. You can easily select a destination that way
