1. The standard range is LFP chemistry and Tesla state to 100% charge (as LFP is more robust and balancing is more important)
2. Any. Intelligent octopus is probably the best deal available and will work with the car. A dumb charger would work too.
3. It should just about do 200 miles in most weather but it'll be dependent on how much heating and how fast you want to drive. For example, driving eastbound 100 miles at 6am at 0 degrees C and with a headwind and 80mph road speed is going to suck range and might mean you ain't doing the journey home unless you slow down.

Car is being collected next Weds and a charger fitted the day before.

Test drove the new Highland 3 and an older Y Long Range. The Highland 3 seems very well put together I didn't find the indicators took long to adapt to but it's a weird decision to lose the stalks. I much preferred the stalks and drive selector on the 3.

I felt the 3 was a more engaging drive overall but the space of the Y won over as I carry a lot of kit for work from time to time and it's pretty cavernous. Also considerably cheaper to lease. Coming from an F30 3 series it felt like I'd leapt forward 30 years in terms of how a car is designed. Time will tell if that remains the case of course.

Delivered yesterday. Impressive space and pace! Wife and kids are very happy. Just feeling my way around the controls and settings now. I may try the steering in comfort today and accelerator in chill.

Does anybody know how to export the trip data? I’m looking for an easy way to log and classify business and personal mileage.

Teslafi is a paid for service, there are others like it, teslamate is a free one but you need to set it up yourself

The throttle response and regenerative braking require acclimation to make smooth process, so focus on that first. Once you “get it”, you’ll likely find one-pedal driving to be a wonderful thing!

Thanks Folks. Used to the regen already, as wife has an EV. Definitely a different pedal profile, however!

Spacious, smooth, and speedy. Just what we needed from our family car. Mrs SM is already planning road trips to France, whereas a trip to London in our previous was a burden to bear!

so glad to be getting my model Y back this week after a month away at repair. Repairs required were minimal but the parts took ages and when I spoke to Steer Group last week, they were suggesting it could be several more weeks. So I was very surprised to get the call today that it is ready.

Can't wait

The eC4 I have been driving in place of the Y is absolutely terrible other than the suspension. Every single other thing is such a failure in that car!

First drive of a Model Y LR today at Tesla Sheffield.
Hugely impressed, rapid beyond belief, comfortable, quiet and full of tech obviously. Quite overwhelming as a test drive given they're so different to a 'normal' car but 30 mins was enough to convince me.

Hats off to Sheffield for a faultless process, booked online, details in my Tesla app and in the car within 2 mins. No hard sell.

Looking to swap from a company car to an allowance which will save me £300 to £400 per month...

I have been utterly bowled over by mine. I ordered as a company car without a drive, but having sat in it and about 25 other vehicles.

It felt a bit leaden/soft the first few drives, and nearly launched it into the house opposite on its very first drive as the accelerator reacted so sharply from very little travel, but it has settled down into a decently weighted car with systems seeming to have calibrated now its up to 109 miles on the clock.

I cannot imagine going back to another car as a daily or family long-hauler now without feeling disappointed.

(But I shall be using some of the money saved for track/rally days…biggrin)

In 20 years of company cars I've never test driven one before taking delivery - this is the first as it'll be my money (subsidised with car allowance)!

I think the suspension settled and bedded in on ours after 2-3k miles. Just got better.

It’s a frustratingly great thing. I really didn’t want to like it but we do. Nothing out there to replace it with that’s same range, performance, tech and interior size for the money.

the haters are gonna, and do, Hate...

As the last few posters - its an oddity. Works great, fits family life, does it all, and never a burden.
2 years, 32,000 miles. No servicing, never a foot wrong..



But they will still hate.

Nothing says you’re a fanboy more than posting “haters gonna hate”

8 year Tesla owner, 2 years an MY owner here, but personally I try to be objective. Theres a lot of good about Tesla, there’s also a lot you get to realise is behind the competition once you e lived with one, wipers, headlights (and yes, we may finally be getting an incarnation of adaptive on the MY as part of release 2024.8.3), suspension, cabin noise v other EVs. And that’s the thing, a lot of what people like about Tesla is what people like about EVs in general.

My wife has an Ioniq 38 kWh. Physical buttons are definitely easier on the move.

Just about to push the 'buy' button on a new model Y from tesla directly, never sat in one or driven one and the nearest tesla centre is 2 hours away.

Im 6'7, and will need child seats/people in the back, think that would be ok?

I'm 6' 3" and this and the Skoda Superb were the only cars I tried that gave adequate legroom. Anything more and you'll be looking at the KIA EV9 I suspect, or other genuine "ginormatrons" (TM).
