This might seem like a paranoid post but give my luck at driving in France the last two years ( i will explain) I am wondering if any of you guys can recommend any essential tool kit items to take this year for my annual Le Mans trip to ensure that any minor running repairs can be conducted by the side of the road. ( I would rather fix things if possible than put my pride and joy on a french transporter)

My 3r Has been 100% reliable and I am not expecting any issues at all , but who knows given my history.

History:

Le Mans Last year - Tuscan ( 2000 miles old and serviced prior to trip) - Engine cut out dead (at 1.7 Units) several times, not nice and each time we had to remove Air box and play with things with TVR dealer at end of line talking us through things.

Le Mans Year before - BMW M Coupe ( 20,000 Miles, fully serviced ) Engine decided to disintegrate internally and had to be towed home. Engine replaced by BMW.

Any advice would be appreciated

When I'm doing a long distance run I tend to pack

Small socket set, a decent 3/8th will normaly do
Flat head and philips screw drivers
Alternator and PS pump belts
Longest ignition lead (won't apply as you have coil on plug setup)
Set of plugs
Couple of litres of oil, coolant and a litre of brake fluid
Gaffer Tape and assorted Zip Ties.

The above will fix anything non fatal. I.E Split coolant hose, zip tie around fail point and cacoon in gaffer tape, Split CV Boot - Ditto. All nasty bodges but they tend to do the job.

Good point..
It already is going to be a tough one as we will be two in the car + tent, sleeping bags, gazebo, few clothes etc. A few of the usual luxuries will have to be omitted this year, but hey It will all be worth it for a fabulous sprint down in the Noble!

I've tried persuading the missus to take her Touraeg down as a support vehicle for the weekend, but for some reason she just does not seem to get the point!
