Alan. I lok far and wide for this. Even visited hundreds of Maxx suppliers.

You will need to search for the 1993-1996 UK Mondeo, but it seems there are no aftermarket rear lights available.

Has anyone thought about spraying their lights?

You can indeed buy spray designed for this from halfords/max power. I did it to my Metro 1.4 gta when I was 21. The mot place made me remove it before they'd give me a certificate

I'd perhaps be tempted to try it, but don't go too dark! Also make sure you clean them properly etc. unless you like it to look extremely amateur. Personally I'd be more inclined to work out how hard it is to modify the clam to affix the US style lights which are off the Hyundai and look a lot more modern.

They won't be UK legal - they don't have a yellow indicator light and hence also won't pass an MOT AFAIK.

I know a couple of companys that would produce tinted/clear/lexus style (if thats your cup of Earl Grey) pretty much any design you want. They would need a minimum order of 50 sets and from past experience would be about £150 or so each set, less for more orders.

If anyone fancies taking on the challenge of getting 50 owners together to club in let me know and I'll pass the details on, ones Europe based and ones US based.

Matt, only way this could work is if Noble organised it I reckon and used them on their cars. Thing is, I bet they have an extremely large pile of mondeo lights that a supplier was extremely pleased to shift!

I though so too then someone in the US mentioned on another thread recently that the US lights had amber coloured indicators?!

I looked at the 1g site verus a good pic of the rear of a uk car. The molding looks reasonably different. Dunno if its a totally new mold (unlikely I guess), or they've cut it differently and then gone in with the filler...

The sonata lights look a little tacky on the noble I reckon.

Can you get clear front indicator lenses for the non 3Rs?

Most manufacturers are not interested in the Mondeo repmobile! I have been looking too. Am going to try a blue spray tint (Foliatec) on my Azure Blue 3R, once I get it back from the Moles - over one week for a 1000 mile service!
The spray paint does have a remover available. It's probably not legal but I see a lot of Vee Dubs with blue rear lights on the road.

The sprays aren't legal you are right Got forced to take it off my metro 1.4gta at age 19 by the MOT center. Just takes some cellulose thinners to remove.

The vws with blue lights actually have aftermarket lights that are blue lensed like that. I *think* they are legal...

Sounds like there's a market out there for someone. Mondeo lights are dreadful.
By the way I am not 19 - my son is not far off though - some people just do not grow up!

Problem is that tooling costs are rather large.

However, I may have a cunning solution in a few months time - I'll let people know if I can pull it off...

You could tint just the tops of the cluster to disguise the original out of date amber. A smoked with red look. Or a totally red look leaving the white style reverse light? Check it out.

Not yet as I realised the lights were sealed at the back, but then also found out its just sealant, so it can be re-sealed easily. Bought some black and red tinting spray and have come up with a few combinations. Hope the pics work.

Definitely looks better, but like you I'm put off by the idea of having to remove the whole unit given how its fixed on.

Please post some real pics if you get it done!
