Driver Training Day (Dates and Price !!!)
Discussion
The price for 12 cars will be £5,700. 1 person per car.
Thats £475 each (+ £3 for lunch).
The first dates they're suggesting are:
Saturday 7th August
Sunday 8th August
I've posted a load of details here including a timetable:

There may be an option to extend to 15 people but i'll worry about that later!
Please can you post back with Yes/No 's for the dates.
Comments are of course welcome (no bad ones though obviously ! )

As I got 23 eager beavers at first and now I've only got 8 are most people thinking this is too steep ? or is it the proposed dates ?!
I have gone back to them to see if thy can get the price down if we go with 15 cars instead of 12.
I could also go back to a couple of the Airfield bods for a round and round cones day?

I'm interested. The price is ok - compares quite favourably with the Lotus Driver training I did a couple of years back (although that in their cars of course, but the instructor:driver ratios aren;'t as good).
Dates ok too. Only problem is I'd need to get the track day sump mod done first...

The guys at Cadence have come up with another suggestion for us. If we can get 15 people, we could create 5 groups of three.
BUT this would mean two groups (6 people) at any one time, not actually participating in driving activities. Maybe doing some theory or spectating or just taking in the hospitality.
This presents a significant cost saving, the price per person would come down to £380 each.
O.

The 3 give a good range of facilities and price.
Just awaiting a couple more offers, then we'll have to choose !!!

Personally £500 is pushing the boat out a little too far for me, especially when we might be paying for, to quote Basil Fawlty, "The Bleedin' Obvious".
I.e. I'm sure many of us already know how to overtake safely and drive quickly on the road (or at least the basics of "observation is all" and "never go so fast that you couldn't come to a full stop in the road you can see ahead"). On that count, the Cadence day is my least favourite option.
I also suspect that many of us haven't been on that many track days, or if we have then we know there is significant room for improvement! Track driving is, IMO, quite different from road driving in that it's less about being "relaxed, flowing and smooth" and more about being "quick, precise, decisive, and maybe a little aggressive."
I guess we each need to decide what we want to get out of the day. Personally, I would want to find the car's limits, explore it's handling characteristics, and learn how to get out of a 'situation'.
I don't see much benefit in the "mile straight sprint" or "high speed bowl" elements, but I would certainly like to get some good track instruction and some skid-prevention training - and a smattering of theory would be great. The ARDS day (option 3) looks best on those counts, and the circuit (albeit short) has some great looking twisty-bits. At around £300 it's a sensible price.
ARDS get's my vote.

My preference is still for the original 12 cars at Millbrook. 10 yes's so far. We must have at least 12 for this though.
Thanks for the input Marlon, exactly what I was looking for the ARDS one is much more like a normal trackday with some instruction thrown in. I thought it was best to show you guys some options.
I shouldn't have put any dates on yet...I had a feeling that that might cause a confused nightmare!!
If I get 2 more for Millbrook, I'll book it up. Then maybe we can sort another one later in the year somewhere else.
