I have contacted 10 racing and road driving schools. A couple of them in particular have been really helpful. I really need to know what everyone is after.

I'm guessing that if you guys are gonna put youselves out for a day and travel to a venue you want to do as much as possible. I certainly do. Because of this the suppliers become a bit more limited....and the price goes up.

The plan I'm working on at the mo is with a driving development centre linked to Millbrook. We are looking a group of 12 Nobles split into 3 x 4's. Activities will be as follows, according to what we want.

Road Session - with 1-2-1 instruction, Overtaking safety, awareness etc.

Steering Pad – used to explore the effects of understeer, oversteer and on-limit cornering;

Hill Route – a series of three graded loops simulating an alpine pass, with all varieties of camber and gradient. Can be used as a conventional road or to develop correct lines for track techniques.

High Speed Bowl – used for achieving top speeds

Mile Straight – used for high speed acceleration and braking exercises, alternative gear change techniques,

Outer Handling Circuit – a mini race circuit, with minimal run-off used for developing accuracy, forces of cornering and balance.

Wetted Area – three surfaces with differing coefficients of grip

I am still waiting for a few responses and your feedback would be most appreciated.

Owen.

I'm up for this altho' not sure I'm really interested in driving on public roads. I think I would be happy on a skid pan all day :-)

It has got everything I need. Sounds like it might be a 20 hour day though.

Millbrook rocks (having spent many a corporate day there at other peoples expenses).

Assuming the date is OK count me in.

Of course mate, all are welcome. They're working me out a price based on 12 Nobles attending. I think we could easily push this to 15 but beyond that the instructor / student ratio that i'm trying to keep high will drop. I guess a few folks may well be scuppered when I get a date but assuming the day is a success, there's no reason why I can't sort out more days later in the year.

Hopefully they'll be back to me in a couple of days and I can post a rough timetable. I know they're looking at Brekkie - 3hr session - Lunch - 3hr Session. With the groups rotating around the activities. The road skills stuff will be on the roads around the facility, the other stuff at Millbrook itself. Don't bring a camera! they won't allow it inside the facility....h'mmm I wonder what top secret megacar we might see there!!!

There's some info about Millbrook at;

Click on the Services button, then on Track & Facility Hire.

Right !.. sit down, get a stiff drink and then read on !

It won't be far off £500. BUT the quality will be very good, as will the variety. I have been talking to the school that's the pick of the bunch again this morning and will be posting some dates and firmer prices and timetable later today or tomorrow.

Hmmm, how about asking the factory for part-funding - after all, we'll all go away as better M12 drivers afterwards, hence promoting the marque in the best light and resulting in more orders for Noble?!?!?! :-)

I spoke to Simon yesterday... he 'left it to me' !

If any of you guys know him better than me any fancy giving him a bit of a grilling on this then feel free !!!

When I get the timetable posted I hope that it's easier to see why it's expensive. The instructor to car ratio will never be less than 1 to 3 and will be 1-2-1 for a considerable time. I've gone over loads of options from loads of places. Some were considerably more expensive, many don't have enough instructors to cope with a big group, others just put cones out down a straight. This is in depth and varied and I hope most worthwhile.
