You really don't need to waste money on a kit, all you need is a 12volt relay, an inline fuse and some cable

Here are the instructions that were supplied with the wiring harness upgrade that was sold by 1gRacing in the US:

All you are doing is using a relay to switch a live cable.

Connect the cables going to the pump onto the coil of the relay. You should then get a click when the ignition is turned on, it will turn off after a few seconds because of the software telling it the engine is not turning.
Take your power feed from the battery positive to the relay contact, from the other side of the relay contacts take the cable to the positive of the pump.
Lastly, you should have a cable from the chassis to the negative of the pump. Job done

I can vouch for how easy this is. The upgrade is easy - even for me with limited electrical wiring knowledge. The whole upgrade took less than an hour, bought all the bits from Halfords, (relay, 30 amp wire, pack of crimped terminals) total cost less than a tenner. Instead of running a long wire back to the battery positive, I took a shorter wire to the starter solenoid which powers up as soon as the ignition is switched on.

Do I therefore not need a inline fuse??

It does not seem to indicate one in the instructions?

Thanks

I would strongly recommend putting in either a fuse or a circuit breaker. Put it inline in the feed between the power source (battery or starter relay terminal) and the relay.

Diagram for the relay wiring is below. Felt the above instructions were a little confusing for idiots like me. Use the existing cables that power the fuel pump to switch the relay instead. Then wire in a new power supply. Hope it helps someone in the future.
