Have not herd of an R77 yet. What is the difference between that and normal M12 3R?

Martin, I could blank your head out with your 'V6 GTO' number-plate - might look a bit odd though mate!!!

Nice pics Rob!

What do you think of the handling of the 3R without the rear wing?

Is the reason why you took it off that one could be classified as a wide boy ,boy racer

James,
I've had the car for a couple of months now and it's only recently had the 1000 mile service (so the horses can now be let loose!), hence I can't tell you about stability and performance wing on, or off yet. I can see out of the rear OK though!

Re the wing-on look, yes I do kind of think it looks boy-racer-ish but it just about works with the M12 due to the look of the car - ie: it 'looks' like the wing has a purpose as opposed to some road-cars with stuck-on wings that do nothing 'cause the car can't go fast enough anyway!

I'd love to know, if anyone can comment, what the effect might be of putting the wing on much shorter uprights. Cutting their hieght in half might make the wing a little less obvious (might), but would it give less downforce?....and could this be counteracted by increasing the angle of attack? Martin.

...I'd like to see a fully sculped wing that curves forward at the ends ala Lotus Esprit!

Martin, the biggest downside would be that you'd see less than bugger all as opposed to just bugger all
In my seating position the lower lip obscures most of the rearward vision so the only view you get is between this and the wing. Why not have it twice as high?

I like the clean lines of Rob's car without the wing, but want the drama and stability of leaving it on, striking a happy medium somewhere. As for seeing nothing that's fine, I've driven vans for years so I'm used to that. M.

I would have liked an M400 but I've been waiting (due to circumstances beyond my control) since last July to put down my second deposit and get the car started, and I'm too impatient to wait the few weeks to test drive it. So, tommorrow, I shall be going to Mole valley and giving them £4700 for a 3R. Mind you, I'm planning to change a few bits...
