Seems to be a bit of this at the moment but I think I'll join in on a lesser scale. smile

My engine is knackered and we have a replacement block to go in. All the bearings springs etc are being upgraded.

This is now the time (although I can't realy afford to do it but what the hell). To play with a few things.

I intend to keep it a 2.5 but do want to run a bit more power. I would like to have 400bhp at the wheels.

Box will go to the gearbox man for upgrade.

Parts for the engine are uprated, big end bearings, valve springs, ARP head bolts and the bolts for attaching the big end bearings and the main bearings.

Not going for forged pistons as this doesn't seem to be worth the effort and money?

I have just had T25s refurbed and have a free flowing exhaust so not looking at changing the turbos.

I have some questions:

What clutch should I fit with respect to the power I'm after so doesn't have to be mega over engineered?

Anythig else I should do to the Engine thats actually worth doing and does make a difference?

Anyone have a spare MTX75 box?

Cheers

Bondy

i suggest you drop a 3.0 back in it

more tuning potential in the long run

you could buy a us engine for cheap money ready to go

might be easier to go 6 speed whilst you are at it

if you do it right you could have easy 500 bhp

or

throw it back together with new rings / bearings
sell it
and buy a 3.0 with 6 speed already fitted

When you say ready to go how do you mean?

No current 3Ls about but I think.

Was planning on staying with the 2.5 I'm not after masses of power 450 would be plenty.

Think the company in the States was AER who, until the exchange rate collapsed, could provide you with a crated 3.0L with oil squirters etc for very little money.

Haha, it would be criminal to stay with the 2.5, the 3.0 is calling to you from afar. smile

If you want to sell that 2.5 exhaust will give you a good price LOL

I think it is:

http://www.aermanufacturing.com

As they remanufacture Ford engines.

I'll be interested in how much you can get one for.

Tux. Already called mardigra and I'm goi g that route.

Gadge. Piston in 5 is a mess and it has destroyed head. 4 has a chip out also. There is a chip out in the spark plug of 4 so who knows what happened.
