Hi,

Been online and tried a few insurance quotes for a 3R, can't find one that will insure a car above £50k, any suggestions?.

Also, What is the best Tracker deal just now?.

Cheers guys,

Jaz

Seeing as you'll loose at least 9k when you walk out of the showroom (VAT) you could just set it at 49995, or ring them up.

Tesco are good for insurance for me but you may have to call them as last time I got a quote the Noble wasn't listed on their web site.

Why would he walk out of the showroom when he has a new car he could drive instead?

In ringing up every possible insurance source I only ever found one company who had a £50K ceiling (they are in Bucks somewhere) - all the rest were open!

There's a couple of long 'insurance' threads on here somewhere...

Re tracker - almost all of these insurers didn't require a tracker and I don't see the point of the expense - in the unlikely event of a total loss (ie: theft) without recovery then you'll get a new car!

Are you suggesting that an insurance company would use the ex VAT figure as a) the basis of whether to write a vehicle off, and b) as a basis for the subsequent payout? I.e. Assuming fully-comp policy, buy new Noble for retail 52.5k on Monday, stuff-it through central reservation on Tuesday, cheque for £45k on Wednesday (OK, a bit optimistic on timing!)

Sounds a bit suspect to me

Nah, on most policies when an insured brand new car is less than so many months old (sometimes 6 months) and is a total loss you get a full replacement (which, of course , you can re-spec with a colour change as you like!).

There is a difference between "replacement value" and "value" (see the old IOB / new FSA website for their adjudications on it).

One thing, most "new for old in 1st year" assume that there is a replacement available (usually explicity worded in), otherwise they give you the value that would leave you indemnified.

Best bet IMHO would be to use 49995 to get the quote, then ring them up to confirm and get it set to the correct value.

Jaz,

If you want to call me on Monday, I can get you a quote for a tracker. Might save you a bit...
