That depends on which noise you are listening for.

The Turbo waste gates are more pronounced on the early 2.5 giving the darth Vader impression, but the exhaust note of the 3 litre cars is in my opinion much better.

Is it true that the 3.0 litre Mole Valley demo car (custom purple colour) has air filters in the original 2.5 litre location? I'm sure I read it somewhere on here.

When I've been out in the MV car in the past I have found the chuffs and chirps to be plenty loud enough, but that would be correct if they are behind the rear windscreen instead of in the revised position further back by the intercooler.

Anyone know anything about this?

Mine (3ltr) got moved back when they fitted the 6 speed 'box, so it's quite possible. I believe the 6 speeder forces the air filters back.

Hi Martin

How did you persuade the factory to alter the present layout ...and what's the benefit

I got my 2.5 used & didn't realise for ages that the exhaust was modified. God knows how I didn't notice...it's completely different !!!!
Anyway, sounds pretty good !

Obes, I met the chap who did your custom exhaust job a few weeks back a the PH VW meet. He said the owner who had it done also wanted to put a NOS system on too, but the chap who did the exhaust said it would just take away what the car already has, so the owner never had it done.

I hadn't realised how early a car it was either (no 8!)I might give the factory a call and see what other mods it may have had done. I'm gonna try and get up to a trackday soon as I'm right with Joust on this modding 2.5l M12 business !! especialy after Craig's glowing testament on the M400 thread!

Max, I hav'nt got mine yet, it's just about to go into build. I twisted Lee's arm at Rockingham and got him to OK it, but I'm sure that if you ask you can have it too. M.

Martin ,are you doing it because you like the original noise with having the waste gates and filters at the front. Are they charging you more for it?
Cheers

I hope this does'nt sound big headed, but coming from a motorbike background ( I'm a 3rd generation bike racer with my firt bike at 9 ) , the acceleration of the car is'nt what grabbed me when I test drove the car. It was the noise, and partly the cars' turning ability, that sold itself to me. At that time I was set on getting a Mitsubishi Evo VIII FQ300 (for 1/2 the money)which is one of the few cars that will live with the Noble in the real world,( ie. wet B roads ),but when I drove the car for the first time it was the sheer DRAMA of what can only be described as a life changing moment that made me realise I had to have one. I knew I had to have that noise or I would have regreted it for ever( petrolhead or what? ). Extra money has not been mentioned. Martin.
