Guys,

I am new to the world of Noble, hopefully about to make my first purchase!

I have a few questions that I would love it anyone can help with.

1. I know it is 1000 miles to 'run in' the engine/car. How can this be achived. For example, if I was to drive up and down the motorway this could be done pretty quickly, but is this ok? or maybe half motorway and some local town stuff ...

2. Is the track sump worth getting if I intend to drive the car quite hard and possibly the odd track day?

Thanks guys!! Reason for questions is I have the choice of a car that has done 1k, or go for a new one ... terrible having choices sometimes!!

Cheers
Rich.

Keeping the engine to around 3000rpm is not that restrictive in the normal run of traffic, allows speeds of around 80mph and only using that limited rev range sees off most things on the road. at least you'll be able to start having serious fun in a matter of days rather than weeks!

Nearly all our customers as specifing the track day sump, as it alot cheaper than retro fitting at a latter date, and give the credentials of the car, even if you choose not to track it, the chances are the next owner will

I'm 523 miles into my running in. With a mix of motorway, town, hill climb, B road twisties etc, and I've only had the car (Red 3R) 3 days. Been out in the rain regularly. I am finding that keeping the revs at or about 4000 max is allowing me to understand the potency of this car gradually. Unless you are accustomed to this sort of power to weight ratio (& I'm not... Range Rover doesn't quite match it!!) the discipline of keeping the power off, somewhat, is a good way of learning about the car. I have a track day sump, but others here, will be able to enlighten you on this point. Be prepared for loadsa friends to request a ride. I've done 4 today. Any excuse!!!
Chris.

Hmm, my thinking is a new Noble now! at least then I know the full history of my new car.

Looks like I will travelling up to Glasgow and back a few times!!

Reason for time issue is that I am going on this years Gumball 3000 Rally so need to get used to the car before!! Need to show the boys what a real British car can do!!

Personaly unless the one with 1000 miles on it is temptingly cheap I'd get a new one. Like you say at least you know the full history of it.

Rich,
1. the idea is to 'use' the rev range so sitting on the motorway at a limited range won't do for the running in - 'use' the range and also change gear as much as poosible. Also, although, the running-in is to 1000 miles this just gets you to the point of having the car checked over and the oil changed (labour is foc - parts (oil) down to you) after this many people think a further 1000 miles or so of less limited driving is required for mechanical logevity.

2. Put it this way, if you track the car without a baffled sump (aka, a 'track day sump') and an engine problem ensues the factory most likley won't provide the warranty so get this option!

Good luck with your choice!

Will see you on the Gumball. Can't afford the Noble before going, so will have to wait till next year.

I will be in a Lotus 135R Sport.

I think we should get together and see if we can ambush another Gumballer with a proper sized boot and store our stuff in his/her car.

Running in, vary the revs, no motorway if I was you, once run in, don't go for the full blast, keep running in and increase the revs gradually untill the engine feels loose enough. Once done, gun it everywhere.
