Petrol Locking Cap
Discussion
Hi Noblers,
Does or has any one else had trouble unlocking/locking the Noble petrol locking cap?
Ther barrel in our old Noble seized in the end (despite copiuos amounts WD40) and we left it unlocked!. Noticed that Joust had to have a new one!
Our new Noble is also difficult (for me) to unlock but my wife has little or no problem.
Normally, I am the handy person in the family although I still have to pay for the fuel of course. When quizzed how she does it she does'nt know. Anyone any tips?
Regards
APS

Alan, I had a similar problem once, when I couldn't unlock it, but generally it works fine. It might help to ensure that the logo/emblem (can't remember what's written on the cap?)is facing you when standing on the left of the car (as it can go in the other way around -ie: 180 deg. opposite) and then turn the key a quarter turn anti-clockwise to lock. Naturally, if you're lubing it make sure you don't get any lubricant into the tank!
BTW, does your cap sit level with the bodywork?
I lost mine - not that it siezed!
Oh - and and I personally wouldn't worry about a bit of WD40 in the tank - I used to use it to start my old Triumph Spitfire for years - quick spurt directly into the cylinders seemed to do wonders
I've found that if you don't put the key fully in then it sometimes won't turn - perhaps you aren't putting it in.
FYI I have the lock at 10 o'clock looking from if you were standing on the roof of the car.

Just a tip. WD-40 is a water dispersant, hence the name (Water Dispersant, and 40 as it was the 40th "recipe" that was tried). Its not designed or functions particularly well as a lubricant and can in some cases dry to a varnish type substance gumming up kit with small moving parts, like locks for example.
At the risk of being sued it only partly does what it says on the can.
