I am looking to invest into a 3R at some point.I have had a test drive and thought it was excellent.

Is there anybody who is not happy with their 3R? and the reasons why? I read yesterday that there was a Scottish owner who was not very happy?

Cheers Max

A Scotsman spending over £50k on a car is bound not to be happy.... think of the pain he must have suffered!

Max, I doubt you'll be sorry: mine's 3 weeks old (and 1,000 miles!) and yes, I have a list of things for the factory to attend to but none of these affects the drive which is amazing - and it's a pussy cat around town/in heavy traffic. Like I say the Noble is a "BIG go-kart"!!!

There is no doubting that the Noble GTO is an incredible piece of machinery, but unfortunately I live near chessington so there is no one locally that can service them properly!!!

After their bodge job service and not one apology, I decided to practically give my 3 away in the back of autocar before the warranty ran out..

Sorry to hear that M12 JDE! I am thinking of buying a 3R from them....maybe not now. What happened? and where else do you recommend to take a noble for a service .

Cheers

Thanks for your very constructive reply (unlike Joust's )Could you please list the things you are going to take up with the factory. So you are not taking your car to Mole Valley for a service I take it. (see M12 JDE post)

Max, am only going to the factory as they owe me a brake mod from new - I wasn't aware of any servicing issues as mentioned above?!

I initially took my car to mole valley because I managed to curbed the nearside wheels while using the remote control for the stereo, (as the control stick for the stereo decided to choose whatever track and volume that it wanted!?)

Anyway mole valley said that I could bring my car in and that they would take the wheels off for me so that they could be re-furbished independently, I thought that this was very "noble of them," so even though the vehicle was a few hundred miles off the 6000 mile service I asked that once the wheels were done if they could service her and fix the control stick for the stereo this was all agreed.

So I took her in after dropping her off I assumed everything was fine until the next day when I called the wheel re-furbisher and he told me that mole valley had cancelled him!!! I was immediately on the phone to mole valley who confirmed this and said they were already carrying out the service, and that they would never have done the wheels as it would have taken one of there car stands up for the morning!!! I was slightly miffed at this.

On picking the car up in the evening I was told that the stereo had been fixed and that the car was running beautifully. (checked the odometer 8 mile test drive)

As soon as I drove it I realised there was something wrong but by the time I got home m.v. staff had gone for the night. the next day I called them and explained that was something seriously wrong, they put me onto the mechanic who told me that I should check the plugs!!!!! Now I was fuming but decided to take a look anyway and on lifting up the rear clam shell I found a loose bolt rolling around on the floor pan!!!!! this is when I realise that recruitment for m.v. had taken place in the zoo next door.

I called the Factory and they were more than apologetic they picked up and delivered the car back to me having repaired a number of items that included changing the plugs!!, ECU, fixing spongy brakes and a host of other things that m.v. did not pick up on.

I have since then twice complained to m.v. and twice been promised a call back from them, that has never happened. My colleagues have advised I take them to small claims court which I shall certainly pursue when I have time in the summer.

Incidentally the the control stick for the stereo was never fixed, the factory explained that this was a problem with sony stick itself and they were currently out of stock...

I have nothing but good service from Mole Valley, but maybe it just depends (as with everything in life) as to how you communicate with them ?

I too had very unhappy experiences with MV

the final straw was an overheating car which went back 4 times, each time they denied anything was wrong

in the end they admitted rather sheepishly that they had connected the radiators fans the wrong way round, so no cooling was taking place

this took up 12 hours of my time back and forth

oh and they also fitted warped disks, and whilst this was evident to me in the space of 10 miles they didn't pick it up

great car, but I've now got a slightly slower one ( GT3) which is more durable

and before that the dealer in Birmingham left it with a misfire and tightened the track rod arm so tight that it broke when I drove out onto the road

if you want one, go and live near the factory they are great

THE SCOTSMAN IN QUESTION HAS HAD THREE NOBLES,NONE OF WHICH HAVE HAD MAJOR PROBLEMS, BUT CANT GET ANY OF THEM FIXED PROPERLY SO THE STATEMENT "ONLY IF YOU LIVE NEXT TO THE FACTORY THEIR GREAT" PROBABLY SUMS IT UP

MM.

You had a test drive and it was excellent.

You posting "has anyone had any bad expierences" will of course get the odd story or two of exactly that -

If I did the same on the Porsche or Ferrari forum I'd get the same response (crap service, good service, factory great, had to sue) etc. etc. but would it actually be representative?

As is often said on here, people with things wrong will tend to post, people who are very happy tend not to post "I'm happy" so the view you get from a BBS is hardly representive.

For the record I've had things go wrong, but both Mole Valley and the factory have been excellent. Sometimes I've had to send a strongly worded letter, but everything has always been resolved to my satisfaction.

Compare that to my BMW (apparently a very reliable car) which has had two major faults that could lead to complete brake failure and a dealer & factory attitude of "no idea - come back in two weeks".

Which marque is therefore better?

That's what I meant by *think* about what you had posted. You loved the car, you enjoyed the expierence. Look around and you'll find lots of very happy owners - and probably no more %age of unhappy ones than you'll find on any other marques BBS.

Would confidence in Noble be better with a 2 year warranty instead of just the 1 year at present? This would be my major worry when a years warranty expires.

Very similar to Lotus in that respect. What I like about this forum is that we have at least 2 Noble employees taking an active interest in the customer. Unlike Lotus.......

I live no where near the factory but they still come and get my car, fix it and drop it back. They really are great.
