Starter button circuit remains live?!

Has anyone else noticed that the starter-button remains live when the engine is running (ie: you can spin the starter motor by pressing the button) - surely this is not a good thing?!

Ever tried turning your key to 'start' while the engine is running on any car? It's live as well.

Can't imagine why you would want ot press it - it's not as if you can't be sure the engine is running!

I know, I know, but it's not me who's pressing the bloody button!!! I may have it removed some time as its completely redundant!
