Picking the car up in 45 minutes...

...Severe risk that I'll widdle myself before I get there!

Took it out for 150 miles this morning, phew!

First impressions (deliberately picking out all the negative points - there are a few, but all minor irritations - the car is fabulous).

1- It may be my imagination, but the ride doesn't feel quite as compliant as the "3" demonstrator that I tried back in July. Still bloody good though!

2- There is a bit of resonation when pulling away in 2nd, perhaps the exhaust? I'm sure it can be sorted at first service time.

3- There is a bit of wind-noise at around 90 (ahem) but otherwise the cabin is nice and quiet... maybe too quiet, as I have to open the windows to properly hear the turbo 'woosh' noises!

4- The air-con works well, but there is an annoying noise from behind the passenger seat. Small issue though.

5- The seat is very comfortable! I was in the saddle for several hours and no back-ache at all. However, my right foot/shin did get a bit tired. I like to be able to fully extend my left leg on the clutch, but that leaves the accelerator a bit too close for my liking, i.e. knees up around the steering wheel. The left-foot rest is perfect.

6- Even at no more than 4,000 RPM on part-throttle it still pulls like a train and it feels so effortless! Very very impressive. A real sports car - it makes the TVR Griffith feel like a limousine!

7- Red is WITHOUT QUESTION the best colour for a Noble! I parked next to a primary school playground at lunch time and all the little nippers (must have been around 50 of them) rushed over to the fence screaming words of admiration! The Noble really does have the same appeal as the Lambo Countach, i.e. the WOW factor!

8- Overmats? What overmats? Oh, those handkerchief size bits of carpet with the logo on them... A bit more fabric wouldn't go amiss Noble!

9- What a car. Everyone stares at it in wonder, but all the faces I've seen so far have been smiling. Cracking looks (esp in red!), blistering performance, truly exclusive, and British. You can't get much better than that.

10- Time for another blast...

Mine also did that from new. Was a heat-shield something, fixed at first service.

And it won't ever go away. Just get used to it now Marlon.

Glad to hear you are enjoying it!

Is Air Con really essential in the M12 or can I do without it?

Glad you like the car, Marlon. I too think that red is one of the best Noble colours (and one of the most overlooked, as well).

There should be no difference in ride quality between the 3 and the 3R. The suspension settings are identical.

The resonance may be the heat shield which runs next to the exhaust. If it is this, your dealer should be able to sort it fairly quickly.

And wind noise over 90? I get that in my Focus, too!

Happy motoring.

Jaz34,

We always recommend that people spec the car with a/c. It's an important option to have during the summer months.

Jaz34 - You'll melt without it. Even with aircon on full blast last summer it was a battle between the cold air and the heat soak from the engine. Mind you last summer was bl00dy hot!

Hopefully that GTC sans roof will be here in time for summer

Great to read your 10 point assessment. I have a Monza Red 3R on order at present (saw the latest brochure and decided that was good enough). Roll on March/April. Simon - Thanks for your comments regarding number plate on the bonnet.
Cheers. Chris.
PS Can anyone give me details of a reasonable insurance quote. I had one from the the local Hill House Hammond branch. But they're disappearing.
