Just a question, why does the 3 have a quoted 344bhp and 340 lb/ft of torque and the 3R 352 bhp and 350 lb/ft torque? All magazines seem to quote them as having different power and torque figures.

Don't they have the same engines? Is there anything extra they did to the R, or is the 3 352 bhp and 350 lb/ft torque too?

3r has a new engine map, which is avaliable to 3 owners free of charge. I asked at the factory and I now have 352 bhp - 8bhp for nothing, my favourite type of upgrade

More importantly the 3 map is much smoother and seems to pull harder from low down right the way through to 6.5k rpm.

So is this new map standard on anything that rolls out of the factory from now-on or will we have to specifically request it when we visit the factory?

Also does it cure or part-cure the hot start issues that have been previously mentioned?

Laurence.

Can I just put the record straight, please?

Both the GTO-3 and the GTO-3R on sale today have engines in exactly the same state of tune, ie 352bhp at 6200rpm and 350lb ft of torque between 3500 and 5000rpm. There are other mechanical, trim and cosmetic differences between the cars, of course, but the engines are identical.

Simon,

Do you have the torque figures for your 400BHP development engine, or is this something you cannot disclose yet?

Just curious

Cheers,
Ian

Hi Ian,

Torque?

A lot!

Pointless me quoting you a figure at the moment, because it will doubtless change as we mess around with it.

I'll make sure everyone knows the numbers when we're satisfied development is complete. That's my job, after all.

See the comments about it's pulling power on my write up of driving it

There are some qalitative statements in there which might give you an idea.

Thanks Simon, just pub talk... you know

Justin, thanks for that, a great write up. It was my first experience of driving my 3R at Rockingham, and you know....I felt similar experiences, except for the suspension. (I will let you in on a secret when I'm allowed)

Have a good one this weekend, and keep on the black stuff, and off the wall.

Cheers,
Ian.
