Have you read the thread lower down the page on depreciation of the 2.5?
Looks to me as if they are already at about 31 / 32K for a 2002 car if you sell back to dealer.
You say the 3.0 is the better car. I've only driven the 2.5 so I'm interested to know where you feel the difference is. Is it w.r.t turbo lag, outright power handling or what? I 'd be amazed if the 3 handles better than the 2.5 which is definately the best handling car I've driven to date.
I think the view is mixed. I know people that don't use this fangled Internet thing that have gained excellent returns after a year compared to other small run sports cars. With 3R's being in the high 55k's fully speced, it'll be interesting to see what happens over this year.
Mind you, any discussion about residuals on a rear wheel drive sportscar in mid-winter is a bit silly really - people hardly look out into a wet, freezing day and say to themselves "I know, I'll go and spend 30-40k on a sports car)!
Only once we get to the 2 to 3 year old point will the true picture show, but some of the very early cars have been around the 25-35% depreciation after 2 years, and that's not so bad.
Me - I passed all the depreciation risk onto a third party, and I fully intend to keep it for 3 years unless the GTC comes along, and then I'll be doing a "chop and swop" with the same dealer and so the overall deal will be very different to just trying to sell the thing on.

at the end of day we are talking 'Big Boys Toys' and the early depreciation as such is looking to be as good as most other comparable cars (if there is such a thing!
