Anybody used one of these on their Noble? I bought one last week and its a clever piece of kit. Measures acceleration, max G, power at the wheel etc.
Figs obtained for my EVO 6 so far:-
0-30 1.91 Max Power at wheel 288BHP
(C.340 AT FLYWHEEL)
0-60 4.84
0-80 7.92
30-50 in second 1.64
50-70 in 3rd 2.23
Sold the Noble a few months back but whish I had been able try out the AP-22 on it. I think the comparison with the EVO 6 would have been very interesting.
IMO the EVO 6 would blow away the Noble to about 50 mph ( 4 wd traction) then lose out from there to 110.
Above 110 the EVO is a bit quicker than the Noble - surprisingly but true! Noble's a bit of an aerodynamic brick!
Great car though and much more exiting to drive than the EVO.

I think the EVO 6 would be toast to 120. After this point i would agree that you'd get reeled in by a lot of cars as the Noble very definitely hits an aerodynamic brick wall at this speed.
I seem to recall Autocar giving figures of about 1.7 to 30mph and 3.8ish to 60mph.............
I've got the 0-100-0 figures where a tuned EVO was up against the M12. I'll try and dig out the article

Yes, Having driven both vehicles now for some time I think its quite hard to compare them.
The EVO 6 is much easier to get off the line quickly, infact shockingly so if you get it right!
The Noble feels alot quicker through second gear and up to about a ton but tends to die off somewhat after 110-120.
The EVO feels surprisingly quick at the top end (OK its not quite standard at 340 BHP) and will pile onwards to 155 no problem.
Wet weather traction in the EVO is awesome. Frankly you can use full throttle in the pooring rain without wheel spin! It will do a sub 5 sec 60 in the soaking wet!
Trouble is unless you are absolutely hammering it around a track the handling feels inert and the EVO is not very exiting to drive compared with the Noble.
I was once picked up by a friend from Geneva airport in an Impreza and was driven to Chamonix across snowy mountain roads and as you say the traction of these rally inspired cars is quite staggering.
I find the Noble surprisingly useable in the wet however, but i certainly wouldn't be doing full throttle in first, second or third unless i wanted to end up facing the wrong way ! Smooth is the key......
As regards the M12's areodynamics or lack of. i have s feeling that that will be an issue addressed in the new cars.................

I chased a dark blue Noble 3R round Oulton Park in the pooring rain a couple of months back. I was in the EVO 6.
I was a bit quicker through the tighter bends but he was pulling away on the straights once he got traction. Infact he came off at one point and damaged the front end! Wasn't anybody on here was it?
Thing is though, A sub 2.0 sec(0-30) run in an EVO 6 is a no brainer, just dump the clutch at 5000 rpm!
You try it in a Noble, its friggin impossible! The auto car run at 1.7 would be very difficult to repeat consistently in a real world situation.A good launch can gain you several car lengths which are very diffuclut to reel back in once your up and running!

I have used a performance meter thing once - not the ap22, it gives 0-60 and qtr mile times and it is v. easy to get a 4.4 0-60 (gentle start to get it moving then nail it, nice to the clutch), and I got a 13.1 qtr mile (I had to lift well before the end as there was a bend in the road ). With no mechanical sympathy and more than one go I'm sure that I could get it 4.0 or below. I'm also pretty confident that I could run mid 12's all day long.
An Evo would win in the rain though.
I borrowed a new evo 6.5 for an afternoon (from a dealer) and after 2 unsympathetic launches (as you have described above 5k rpm and sidestep the clutch) the clutch gave up and left me stationary with a cabin full of smoke and the engine sat at the limiter - problem with all that traction is that the energy has to go somewhere. not really a no brainer when it costs you £300 a go.

It was simply idol speculation w.r.t a drag race over quarter mile for example.
Yes 4.4 0-60 in a Noble is pretty straight forward, I've done it myself, but sub 2.0 0-30 isn't easy unless your very experienced a get it spot on. Also the important factor in a drag race is the time to reach a certain distance rather than a certain speed.
ie.The Noble could get to 60 half a second quicker than the EVO but could still be 30 ft behind in distance terms if you see what I mean.
Any way I think we may have exhausted this discussion!
