Dealers and test drives

Can anyone recommend a decent dealer in the south who will treat me like a potential customer, not a joyrider?

I may turn up in a Peugeot 306 and don't want them to get the wrong idea

Then again, I might turn up in something more 'appropriate' for the occasion

Either way, it's a serious enquiry.

Mole Valley were good to me, even though I ended up upsetting them by not buying from them.

I turned up in a grim old CAvalier diesel and they didn't give appear to notice.

Certainly helps if you ring ahead and have a chat, they seem to work on the principle that if you seem to know your onions, then you;re ok. That said they do make you sign away several grand on an excess agreement.

Although I ended up buying one privately, Kerridges were very good with my phone enquiries and regularly phoned me back with updates. Ipswich isn't exactly south though !

Depends where you are in The South, Stig. Both Mole Valley in Chessington and Kerridges, near Ipswich, are both excellent dealers. They won't judge you on your appearance, either!
