Folks,
TRUST me on this --> Live is a must, especially for PGR2.
It's AWESOME. I've been gaming for many years on many platforms, and PGR2 on Live is the most fun I've EVER had in a game. Especially if you get hooked up with a good crowd - it's seriously a good laugh. The real-time voice chat (think of an 8-way telephone conversation before, during and after races) is the defining factor and makes it excellent.
If you have an Xbox, PGR2 and a broadband connection, for the love of God you NEED live.
DaveyC, when you gonna come downstairs and sample some racing on the Internet (in lieu of real-life 3R bashing)?

XBOX Live is absolutly great, I haven't been online for a while but will be trying out PGRII as soon as it arrives.
The humbling affecet as you start (being trashed by a ten year old, who has never even seen a real Noble) is soon got over and you build up confidence and skill in the virtual world. Driving the game will not come close to the real thing of course (to many sensory inputs missing) but I'm looking forward to it.
I have no doubt that my friends will enjoy beating me in the game with their virtual Nobles.
My handle on XBOX live is "Buxton".

Connecting is relatively simple if you know networking basics - instructions here: "www.xbox.com/en-GB/live/start/connect/".
Apparently 128k is the minimum, so hopefully you shouldn't have any trouble (as long as it's 128k both upstream and downstream). Lots of people are on Blueyonder broadband, which has an upstream rate of 128k, and they get along just fine.
The right game HAS come along - Project Gotham Racing 2. It's officially released in the UK today. Go and get a copy!!
Get the game and get on Live using your trial, but if you find that the racing is fun and that your connection can withstand it then you NEED a communicator headset. This opens up the really fun part of Live and what makes it so cool - real-time voice chat.
And yes, you can surf the net while on live but high bandwidth stuff is not recommended (for obvious reasons).
