Was just wondering what people have paid and what exactly was done. I've booked my 3R in at Kerridges for next week and been quoted what sounds an excessive £245 inc VAT for what I thought was only an oil change and spanner check. What else could possibly need doing after so few miles??

That's a lot more than mine was, I paid about £100 (inc VAT). I suppose if you had a track day sump on that would increase the price a bit but not that much. I'd ring some other dealers and get a price from them.

Yep, I do have the track day sump but they didnt ask any questions so it sounds like it must be the standard cost for a 1k service. Looks like the FREE curtesy car and car wash are not so FREE after all!

For my £100 Sturgess drove the 80 miles to my house, collected my car, serviced, washed, valeted and returned it even as far as putting it back in the garage for me and locking up. Granted at the time I didn't have the track day sump fitted so I'd expect it to be a little cheaper but the difference shouldn't be that much, and that was only in March this year.

The servicing schedule may have changed though. I'd check with Kerridges to see what is actually included.

Had my 3R serviced by Nick Whales last week.
Total was £120 and I also have the track day sump.
For the first 1000 mile service you should pay only for the oil and whatever else they use during servicing but no man hours.

Thanks for the info guys, I'll give Kerridges a ring in the morning and find out exactly why they're charging so much. Is there anything in writing anywhere to say that no labour should be charged??

In the manual of the old 2.5's it said something like that (sorry - don't have it to hand).

Check out your manual (yese - that black thing you were give that quickly got consigned to the filing cabinet I'd imagine ) and give them a ring.

Says nothing in the owners handbook other than 'the first scheduled service is due after the vehicle has covered 1000 miles' and that's it!
Guess I'll just have to get a break down of exactly what they do, will be interesting to find out.

First service you pay for oil , filter and consumables etc labour is invoiced to Noble by the garage so cost should only be about £100.

Just phoned Kerridges and they still insist the cost is £245 inc VAT and that I will have to pay the whole lot. They're going to fax over to me a breakdown this morning.

adParker,

Kerridges are our newest dealer and have obviously not been briefed by the factory about labour charges for the first 1000-mile service. Please accept our apologies for this misunderstanding, and rest assured that Kerridges are not to blame in this instance.

For the record, you only pay for the materials used on the first service (8 litres of oil, a filter and misc. consumables) which should work out to around £85 plus VAT - though this will vary from dealer to dealer. The charge for labour is between the factory and the dealer only. You do not pay this.

I have 'phoned Kerridges and spoken to their aftersales department, who are now aware of the situation. We will also support this with a factory memo which will confirm the future arrangements for a first service.

If you have any further problems, please do not hesitate to call me at the factory.

Regards,

Thanks Simon, I've just had a call from David at Kerridges and he confirms exactly what you've said. Sorted!

Two things I could ad if I may. Bought 4 TVRs from Kerridges and in their defence never got an unusual service bill so I'm sure it was an honest mistake. Secondly I'm so impressed with the factory support you owners seem to be getting with info and probs I cannot see any other car I'll be in when I return to the 2 seater fold. Enjoy your cars.
