What's in 100kg?
Discussion
What makes up the 100 kilo difference between the GTO's 980kg and the GTO 3R's 1080kg?
It seems a massive difference considering the 'lightweight' nature of the car. After all that's nearly what BMW shaved off their M3 to make the CSL. Does anyone consider the car's orginal focus has been
a little softened? (more power and more weight)
Just playing advocate, after all I've already voted with my wallet. Wondering what opinions people had.

Bear in mind that the GTO-3R has a lot of soundproofing material that the original 980kg 2.5 GTO never had. The kerbweight of the GTO-3R also includes all the aircon equipment, which adds considerable weight. In fact, the weight of the GTO-3R's powertrain is only marginally different to that in the GTO.

Oppss - sorry then. I was just going on other forums on Ford engines that there seemed to be a 10kg+ difference in the wet weight of a 3.0l V6 to the 2.5l (sad that I now read lots of "ford" forums for the latest on what people are doing with Mondeo engines).
ALthough those figures did come from a US based site so perhaps things are different over there?
Sorry again for giving duff infomation! (but therefore where is the difference between the 2.5l GTO and 3.0l then - or did the magazines have it wrong - I'm now confused!)
