Anyone got one? Where did you mount it?

Had a look at these today, and the reports seem to indicate that they are pretty good at what they do. However, I got the chap in the shop to have a look at a mounting position - on top of the dash was recommended, but didn't exactly look the part. He suggested mounting between steering column and centre console. My worry is that it may not get a good GPS fix in this position.

Any thoughts greatfully appreciated. Might even put some neon under it, just to please Justin

Cheers, Mark

Bradders, i got the Origin B2 installed, blooming good and very neat and discreate. Does not take up any dash space, ariel on back shelf, laser detecter behind rearveiw mirror, and unit just to right of gear lever below switches. Hope it helps you.

I've installed mine just on the far right hand side of the car.

You can find the piccie at
www.lotus-elise.org.uk/noble/Road%20Angel/Road%20Angel%20Pictures%20005.jpg
or the full story at
www.lotus-elise.org.uk/noble/diary.htm

I put an extra bit of padding under the mount where it touches the dash though - the dash plastic is very soft and scratches easily.

Bill, How quickly does your B2 lock on to sats when starting jouney?

Also, does it have a habit of locking out of sats mid journey?

I have ran a B2 in my everyday motor since June and suffered these problems. Have tried various mounts for the ariel to get the cleanest signal. Even threaded through the sun roof to the roof itself.

When it works, it's fantastic.

Sorry to hi-jack your thread Mark.

How are you enjoying the NOBLE EXPERIENCE ?

Cheers,
Ian.

Thanks for the info Bill and Joust.

Ian - no worries about hijacking. The experience is leaving me with a constant grin. Just a shame I wasn't able to really experience the fun on Friday. Up to 850 miles now, and on rations, as the service is booked at G.L. for Monday. Can't wait to let rip. Reactions are really funny. There's a Grammar School opposite work, and the kids have been paying it a great deal of attention the last couple of days. Every now and again one of them will run across the road for a closer look, as though on a "dare". Hilarious for everyone in the office. Check 62.49.119.141 - camera 3 for a laugh tomorrow lunchtime

Got the Trackstar going in it tomorrow morning which will give a little more peace of mind.

Cheers, Mark

My Roadangel is mounted like Jousts, over on the right hand side. I have heard that you can mount them under the dash and it still locks on OK. I have tried it lying in the passenger footwell as an experiment and it appeared to work ok, but of course I couldn't read it, but this potential gives you the ability to mount it out of sight. This was using the inbiult reciever and no external ariel.

Might give it a go between the steering column and console. Chap who is here installing the trackstar recommends Morph Geo over Road Angel. He sells both - discounted as well. In a quandry now...

J. 62.49.119.141 Camera 3 or 62.49.119.140 pwd:000000 (six zeros), Camera "Car Park 2". Both should give you a laugh at the kids. Car currently in stores having tracker fitted, so not there at the moment.

Personally perfer the origin b2s to either of your choices. Just easier to mount due to external aeriel. The b2 is also a nice small unit, and you only have to drop it into its docking station rather than plug in multiple leads (on my old origin blue I have to plug in aeriel and power each time I put it back in the car which is a drag).

Yup me too I have MY B2 mounted up above the rear view mirror on a bracket that I made attatched to the roll bar - kind of flight deck like and the aerial is mount in the middle of the dash cable for it comes up past one of the windscreen vents.

Hey guys...

What do the Road angels compared with other devices, and have you found them useful?
