Exhaust Bracket

Suppose I've been lucky to get to 8000m before exhaust bracket on left hand side broke! Anyway just checking that the only thing to disconnect before welding is the battery? Can any one confirm please?

If i were you i'd disconnect the whole exhaust and throw it in the bin! Cheers

....seriously, i think it is just the positive terminal on the battery but i'm sure someone will be along to confrim!
Thanks for the replies guys. I probably will consider a new 'proper' exhaust at some time, the shame of it is that the Car is hardly being used at the moment (House build), so the re-weld is just a 'quick fix'. It was the 'spikes' I was thinking about myself, and the guy who is doing the welding said that he always disconnects the battery to be safe. He just wanted me to check there were no other 'special' considerations to consider with the Noble.

Shamefully hood winked from another forum:-
Different schools of thought:
1. Disconnect battery and you prevent a fire cause by melting through a hot wire. It then leaves the line floating open to surges.
2. Leave connected an the batt protects against surges.
3. Disconnect and short +/- leads together.
The main thing is to connect the work lead as close to possible to what your are welding.
An example would be connecting the work lead to the frame and welding the exhaust. Then you would likely burn out the ECU by spikes induced through the oxy sensor.
I agree with the writer of the above. so long as you earth is good and right next to where you're welding you should be fine IMO.
