Hi folks,

Just got mine back last week with a brand new engine and a 6 speed box, along with the oil temp/pressure gauge. Like having a new car again, which is nice. For those considering the 6 speed box, it is better than the 5 speed. 6th sees about 80 at 3,000rpm, and the ratios are pretty well spread. Gear selection is smoother than the 5 speed, but still has its moments - I guess there's only so far you can go with a cable shift.

I'm getting more boost than before (but only briefly) - probably the latest mappings, and my air intakes have been moved back into the same place as on the 3R (mine's a 3). I'm guessing that this has to be for reducing the temperature of the inlet rather than for reducing the sound (it's lost those Darth Vader sound effects), or else why would they have done it.

I spoke to Lee about this and he seems "unrepentent" that the air intakes have been moved..... No matter what I said could get him to agree to move them back to where they should be on the GTC.

Guess it's all to do with getting cool, clean air into the engine, but I'll be lost without that sound...

Have you got the overboost kit?

You can tell beacuse there is two wires, one black, one red going to an actuator that is on top of the engine. It's next to the swirl pot, and is circled at the top middle of this picture (sorry - wrong side).

If you have then that will take it up to 1 bar between 3.2k to 5k rpm.

Has there been any thought given to reduce the sound deadening between the passenger compartment and the engine bay? Or perhaps fitting a microphone next to the intakes that feeds directly through the sound system?

Any chance of rpm/speed for all 6 gears ? I'm just toying with idea of having my 5 speeder upgraded and would be keen to see what teh benefits were.

Cheers

I think I may be going over old ground here, but is the 6-speed a sequential dog cut gearbox, or a standard 'H' pattern gearbox retaining the synchronisers?

Standard 'H'

There was talk of a sequential box for the M12 "T" but i haven't heard any more on this model for a while................

Stu,

Two weeks ago there was a snippet in Autocar from Noble, saying that the 3T would be here by the end of the year.

Can this over boost kit be fitted to a 2.5.

Can you really notice any difference

Yes and ohhh yes.

See www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=40899&f=26&h=0&hw=overboost

It's not that expensive either.

Speak to the factory if you want to investigate the option of having it fitted.
