No it's not Stainless...
Discussion
I e-mailed the guy, saying his ad was misleading and his reply (after revising the ad) was...
Quote - I dont think it is misleading it states "Here is a Noble 3R exhaust" and if someone wanted to make this fit a 2.5 they could but I have pointed out now that it will need adjustments to fit.How do you know my exhaust is not stainless? Thanks for your comments.
My e-mail back...
"You state in your ad "Here is a Noble 3R exhaust made from stainless steel as fitted as standard to these cars" which is a blatant lie...other stuff you have said is misleading at best."
Martin.

His reply...
Why is it a blatant lie? Did Noble make some stainless and some not? I have also rectified the "other stuff" by stating it will need adjustments.
My response...
Noble have NEVER fitted a stainless exhaust as standard and to the best of my knowledge (and 7 or 8 other Noble owners I've talked to today) have never fitted one retrospectively.

What fun forums are, people sticking in their 2 pence worth of boxxxcks ! Why not paint it,it saves polishing it,or is that all you can do,POLISH ! That would explain why you haven't the imagination or mechanical knowledge to fit it to a 2.5. And who sayes its not stainless, low grade stainless will tarnish very quickly, have you checked yours ? Do you know how to check if its stainless ?
You people really should get out more, but thanks for being so anal as you provide with some fantastic laughs !

You lot make Noble owners look bad !
Bite better than the Ford RS lot too !
Might just buy the exhaust to see who is right !
Oh and just so you know,I'm not the person selling the exhaust,I just felt the topic was a little one sided.

The seller tested it with a magnet to see if it was magnetic, mild steel is and some stainless is,however the exhaust isn't,therefore ruling out it being made from mild steel.
There are several families of stainless steels with different physical properties. A basic stainless steel has a 'ferritic' structure and is magnetic. These are formed from the addition of chromium and can be hardened through the addition of carbon (making them 'martensitic') and are often used in cutlery. However, the most common stainless steels are 'austenitic' - these have a higher chromium content and nickel is also added. It is the nickel which modifies the physical structure of the steel and makes it non-magnetic.
Its also possible for stainless to rust depending on the amount of chromium added,as it makes an oxide coating to protect its self (like anodising on aluminium)if this oxide layer should become damaged,ie from bending,it can rust.
New my hnc in engineering would come in use one day.

And how do you know that I wonder...1) You are the seller and you are trying to cover your ass, or
2) He is your mate and you are trying to cover his ass for him, or
3) ...can't think of a 3, because you can't have e-mailed him to ask or the e-mail question would be there for all to see (and if you did ask him he could have lied anyway)
