Front end respray + Paintshield
Discussion
I want to get the front clam resprayed and the Paintshield full frontal protection before I put my new carbon front spliter on.
I've been quoted £760 for the repray (plus new noble badge) but if I take the lights out myself then they'll lower the price. It looks a straight forward job but the rubber surround at the front of the lights look like they need replacing.
Paintshield have told me that as they'll use my car to design a full frontal protection they will do it for £700+vat.
Do these prices sound OK and should I do the lights myself and replace the rubber surround?

The rubber surround is a type of mastic, if you can "dig" it out you painter can mask the lights and re-mastic over the masking line, this will make it a much cheaper job and you won't see any masking lines.
Armourfend or some such films should be relatively cheap.
My front end was re-sprayed for the previous owner using the masked lights method and cost £400.00 all in.

The Paintshield price is for the whole of the front clam + mirrors as I asked for a price of all forward facing surfaces forward of the A pillar. They said it would be made up of bonnet, wings, bonnet scoop, mirrors, bumper, spliter, wheel openings.
Is this a bit over the top? I only asked for the whole lot as the marks on the car from the previous owners seem to be in those areas (especially low down).
It sounds like I need to try a few other body shops as the price breakdown was £340 labour £302 paint/laquer £112 vat and that was me taking off the front clam myself and leaving it with them.

Didn't pay nearly that much for Armourfend.
Martin.
I wasn't convinced by the armourfend when I first got the car as it can show that little outline around the sections. Now though I realise it's been brilliant - got the odd mark on the front as it won't stop a ten-tonne boulder but otherwise it's saved the nose from a lot of chips. Only thing is there's no covering on the side-pods which is a shame as they are getting more and peppered each time I look.Martin.
Is this paint protection a new thing?

Are you getting it gold plated?
You'll need about 0.5 litre for a front clam.
Even with a full strip down to gel coat, paint and materials about £250-£275. That covers isolator, undercoats, base coat and lacquer.
