Static noise levels

Does anyone know the noise level (db) generated by the 3.0ltr at 4500 rpm when the vehicle is stationary?

93-94db for a 3.0l
95db for the 2.5l

Although I did see a 2.5l at Bedford reach 102db at Bedford!

Rule of thumb is the standard exhaust complies with a 98db limit whether on a 2.5l or 3.0l

My 3.0l is 99db @1 metre @5000rpm with standard exhaust as measured at Castle Combe .

Was that mine? I think mine is pretty close to 101/102 with the modified exhaust - but they still let me out OK

No it was a black one, with what looked like a standard exhaust configuration. The noise test in my opinion is all a bit heath robinson anyhow, there are so many factors that can affect the noise levels that you'd probably get 5 different results from 5 different tests.

Interesting. I agree on the heath robinson part though - a stick with a line on it is hardly a correct way to get the distance and angle correct!

Can anyone say what is the decibel level the driver is exposed to INSIDE the car?

Anybody knows how it compares with an Elise noise level ??

The Elise I think is about 93db with a sports exhaust.
