When my car was in for a service I was told there was a small crack in the rear exhaust manifold and that it was ok just now as its not blowing.

It might be a stupid question but how will I know when its blowing / gone? I take it it wont hold boost? If it has gone / on its way out will driving it cause the engine harm?

Cheers

Iain

Don't wait. Just get the replacement with gussets and fit it. You are lucky it's the rear as this is quite easy. The fronts a bh.

Failing that, if the crack is not too bad, then get the manifold off, cleaned, welded and gusseted. This will save a couple of quid.
These are made in SA, so if noble don't have any in stock, then you may not be able to drive your car for a while, so order the replacement before it blows proper.

Sorry, I havn't got one, but you need to weld triangular pieces between the branches to tie the branches together. This will reduce movement and future cracks.

Another point, I was shown a manifold at Plans that had cracked, then a piece had broken off and lunched the Turbo. So the sooner done the better.

If you get the existing one off and get it to a local metal workshop, I am sure they will know exactly what to do. It is stainless, so requires a bit more attention that mild steel.
