roush decat problems

fitted my roush decat pipes the other day (thanks joust) and after having beeen for a test i can say the exhaust sounds great just what i have been used to in my immature evo and skyline days.
only one problem, exhaust now knocks on a chassis member which is annoying (obviously),
basically front turbo downpipe is the cat delete pipe, then comes a short exhaust section under the engine, a few centermeters after thisthe pipe passes under the drive shaft and over a chassis member at about 45 degrees. this is where it knocks. i guess the decat pipe must be fractionally longer than the cat.
dont get me wrong it is not much, one only hears it when one goes over bumps, my pipes are heat wrapped which adds a bit of diameter to the pipe i was thinking of
1) removing a bit of wrapp in this location to see if the extra clearence helps.
2) adding some wrap to this location to try and pad it out to cusion the knock away. only thing is i cleared garage out yesturday and threw away the off cuts i hade of exhaust wrap
anybody had simular experiences?

Loosening and re-positioning has a good chance of working--it definitely did for me when I had a similar interference problem with Hoover's 3" piping on my car.
And I would not recommend your option 2 since the extra cushion will most likely put undo strain on the "hard" mounting points of the system that will probably lead to cracking over time.

yeah i think you are probably correct, think i will have the have the undertray off tomorrow and have a play with the fixings. think i might do a road test before the tray goes back on this time, luckily i have a pit at home and i have just replaced all the screws with stainless torx drive ones so the battery drill whips them out in no timeAnd I would not recommend your option 2 since the extra cushion will most likely put undo strain on the "hard" mounting points of the system that will probably lead to cracking over time.

cheers mate, battery drill has been on charge over night, as allways it was flat when needed lol,J
off out to the garage in a bit to try. i thought about doing a test drive before i put the tray back on and thought, na it will be fine lol.
