I've got a quote from Hayward and Scott for an exhaust for the noble. Its £800 fitted not including VAT and they require the car for 3 to 4 days.

I was wondering does anyone have one fitted to theirs? Whats the quality like? Does anyone have any pics of it?

The car I'm picking up 2morrow has one fitted, from what I could see it looked fine, if you're not in any hurry then i will take some pics for you over the weekend.

I had a H&S exhaust on the Porsche 911 Turbo and it was not the best quality I had seen. Leaked everywhere, however, I do know that loads of people rate them.

The question I would ask is the Roush one is £2.5k (with ceramic coating) and H&S is £800. Why the difference?

Iain,

Have you contacted this guy?

www.2bular.com

I think he's already done a system for an M12 which there may be a relevant thread on here. I believe he's based in Portlethen.

They also don't do rolling road/mappings for that. Really need to do that as far as I can tell to avoid lean/rich running. Upgraded fuel pump wiring has also been recommended.

I would like to know what these exhausts sound like.....

I believe Alex s on here has had one fitted for sometime now and from what I remember is that he really rates it.

Then again alot of people on here really rate the Roush.

£2500 for the roush one included 2 RR seccions, fuel pump and wiring upgrade and a 3 hour RR session with Trevor Jasper (Jedi Map Master) and his laptop.

I went from 340 to 395bhp and from 350 to 400 ft-lbs. smilesmilesmile

But thats not the half of it really, its like raising the rev limit by 1500 rpm, really free flowing and much mor lovelier to drive biggrin

Well worth it IMO.

It takes tonnes of effort (i.e. prototypes) to tune an exhaust. I can't see how the odds of getting something good thrown together on demand are very high. Well not unless the noble exhaust is so awful that a relative improvement is easy.

I seem to remember someone on here getting one made and then complaining that they refused to modify it for him and would only sell him a complete new systems.

I've used them twice on my Cerb, then my HSV. Had a couple of niggles that were readily sorted to my satisfaction, and the qgeneral quality was fine. Have got a quote for my M400 as well. However when you added things like sports cats, ceramic coating and VAT etc I seem to remember the pricing ending up not far off the Roush one. Haven't done either yet!

The Noble exhaust is an awful design the(main)problem being the "Y" section where the two exhaust pipes Siamese into one before the baffle box, not good for non turbulent flow!
Several people have made exhausts for their Noble and had an improvement just by omitting the "Y" section.

It’s probably because Roush commission (sic) Piper to make "their" exhaust for them. as you may know if you buy wholesale product and then retail it there is normally a hefty mark up to justify the hassle of handling and marketing there's probably a minimum batch order as well for a relatively low production item.
H&S make exhausts bespoke on the premises for a lot of cars and that’s just "their" retail.
They will charge extra for ceramic / cats de-cats etc.

Pictures would be great.

Graeme, Jim (2ubular) requires the exhuast to be removed then sent to him. He doesn't do a fitting service which causes a bit of a problem for me. He has an excellent reputation and specialises in Elise / Exige exhausts.

Is there anyone that specialises in Noble ECU mapping in the uk apart from the man at Rousch?

Hi Conleith, I was wondering how you were getting on. So is the engine rebuilt to standard spec or have you decided to up the power?

hi iain

just kept it pretty standard, couple of internal bits uprated though not likely to increase power, did consider it but as basically needed whole new engine decided to get it on the road first. havn't really had much chance to appreciate the standard 429bhp the car had, so decided to have some fun with it, then spend more later. JNM reckon about 470-480bhp straightforward to achieve with roush exhaust and intercooler upgrades, being bolt on accessories can be done at any time.

the close to 5 figure rebuild cost came at just the wrong time with the january taxbill as well

429 bhp would just about make yours the most powerfull standerd Noble in existance, 480bhp would turn it into a granade without substantual beefing up. suggest you get it checked on some more accurate rollers.
