Guys,

Been lurking on here for a while now reading posts and picking up general tips and advice etc...

I've got to take the engine/gearbox out of my Noble in order to fix a faulty clutch.

Anyone who's done this got any recommendations/best practices?

Thanks for any info offered.

Saved me roughly a grand in labour (somewhere in the region of 10-15 hours) using this method. Next time it'll probably be even quicker due to them not needing to cut out and fashion a bolt-on section. Although, if you're doing it yourself then labour savings may not be the most important issue, and so cutting the chassis may not be the most desirable way to do it.

If the model you have is pre '3R' you should fit a LSD while the engines out.

Having done it myself, I would leave it in and do it as Nobleguy says. Track sump can be done that way too. It'll save you a fortune yes

That's my old car! - Hi there Mr Credit sorry to hear your having clutch problems - as aside for everyone else - it has an LSD, 6sp and TDS already fitted with the removable chassis bar, plus Roush Pipe and dump valve etc. - Still looking good with the black wheels - must save a fortune in wheel cleaner! wink

Does it deffo need a new clutch? Speaking to MadMacMcDad, he brought his back to life by bleeding the system. Might be worth a try before going to all that expense?

There's a bleed point on the casing. Use an easi-bleed or similar just like doing the brakes. smile

Ahh, I see. Easi-bleed was an unexpected success when I did the brakes.

Thanks for the replies so far. smile

I'm actually assuming that it's the clutch slave cylinder that's knackered. The clutch failed at Snetterton on a track day, the peddle just went totally soft. Tried to bleed it but no joy. Had to drive home to Tunbridge Wells without the use of the clutch which made for an interesting drive!!
I've got an Eazi-bleed kit and I flushed all the fluid through and replaced it with new stuff, bled it through and still the peddle was soft and to the floor. So apart from it being the master cylinder, which to be honest I haven't checked yet, I'm assuming that it's the slave cylinder.

Apart from that the car has been faultless and a total joy to drive. With one exception being a starter motor issue at The Nordschleife. I managed to take a bit too much kerb on one lap and caused the starter motor to fail meaning I had to drive back to Calais without switching off. smile

I shall have to spend a weekend fiddling with the clutch again.

I am so glad to hear you're enjoying the car and it's been relativly trouble free - can't beleive you've taken it to the Nordschleife. I'm assuming all the money I spent on it has paid off!

As for me well I still haven't got the sodding GT3 I ordered!!! frown Although I have been lent one for the last five months free of charge but I'm too polite to go a rag it on a track - so I haven't been on a track day for about a year and half or more I think...

Certainly was!! Got a Bridge to Gantry time of about 8:50-8:55 biggrin
I say "about" as the power feed to the bullet cam was playing up so I've got audio for the full lap but not video.

Hopefully I'll be able to get that sorted for this year. smile

After a PAX lap at Snetterton and getting totally owned on the 'Schleife I can vouch for the pay off on mods. Wowsers!

Got a nice vid clip of the Noble in front of me going round Karussel. Nice!
