starting prob

my 2.5 starts 1st time everytime when cold.but when warm she will start 1st time after a fair old turn on the key and a bit of throttle.ive had the original ecu repaired ,new plugs,leads etc.Any ideas please

i think you may need to try and hold it on the throttle at first to sort this out

a remap should fix it

what ecu have you got ?

the original marelli .it is 100% better since the repair .can this ecu be remapped?.when starting from warm i turn the key and if i dont apply any throttle she will not start

I think JNM do an Omex Plug in conversion, but sounds like a faulty temp sensor somewhere telling it the engine is cold on start up all of the time.

My 2.5 (car number 26) on the original ECU did that all the time. It was replaced (along with a new engine) with an MBE after a few months so never investigated it further.

If this has never occurred before, I would check your sensors:
o2, air/temp and also check for vacuum leaks.

sounds about right adrian .where is the temp sender please and how do i get in touch with jnm thanks

You have an inlet air sensor and a water temp sensor, I think you will find JNM and details for all of the Noble people in www.nobleparts.co.uk

As Joust says, I suspect "they all do that, sir" and it's probably a mapping problem. The early maps for the MBE ECUs did the same. One of the first changes I made for Lee was to improve the hot restart calibration. Sorry, I can't help with the MM ECU.

If the car doesn't run excessively rich when warm, the I suspect the sensors are working fine. With the MBE, the default for the coolant temp sensor when it's failed is 90C, so you'll struggle to get it to start when cold. Also, the Ford sensors are pretty reliable.

If throttle assist starts seem to work, then go with that...
