Anyone wanting to heat wrap their exhaust - Read this!

Pulling the stainless steel tie wraps tight enough can be a real pain.

I've recently bought a tool for pulling the ties tight. Works like a dream. It even snips the unused part of the tie off.

Since it will spend most of its time sat in my tool box, i'm more than happy to lend it out to guys here.

I'll post it out, and you post it back - simple.

I found cutting them off turns them into razer blades, best thing is to cut them off and then bend then over so no sharp edges.

you can buy the wrap off ebay or from demontweaks. I used the second generation Copper one 2"x50'

If you want to cover the whole exhaust properly best to order 100' of it as one pack will only cover the front and rear cats and the exhaust pipe running beneath the sump

agree, just done mine and needed 100'

and i replaced all the screws for the under trays with stainless ones with a torx pan head for better grip when removing/refitting in the future

Stainless lock wire makes a good alternative to those stainless ties for a fraction of the price. You want to secure the wrap every few inches, and those ties are a very expensive way of doing it.

Agreed wire is cheaper, but also prone to cutting into fibreglass wrap.

And i pay only 28p for each tie wrap, so not going to break the bank.

That's a bit of a steal, they retail for £1 - £1.50. Can't say I've ever had any problem with wire cutting the bandage, if if the ties were that cheap I'd be inclined to use them anyway.

I used mainly stainless lockwire with tiewraps on either end, no probs with damaging the wrap and lets you secure tightly around the pipe bends.

i looked at these but check the max temp, wasnt sure if they went hot enough so bought pukka ones,
