cannot stand the look of my 2.5 with the twin outlets pointing to the floor like a diesel.problem is the exhaust is in very good nick .has anyone done a bit of fiddling to get the later look or know the easiest way on my pocket to achieve this until the time comes to replace it all

As far as I know the silencers are completely different configrations from the 2.5 to 3L - before the silencer the pipes may well be very similar. May just be a case of finding a 3L silencer/tailpipes but I might be wrong.

Show me the dyno plots for the H & S product, just maybe your paying for the development time and several long sessions on the dyno. I think today the Roush product is the only one with proven performance gains. I agree it is expensive but it is a very low volume product with all of the development costs of a high volume product.

3R exhaust can be made to fit with a big dent bashed into one of the feed pipes.

I had it done to my original 2.5 when I had the engine replaced. Cost around £1200 + labour + VAT from memory.

i would love to take a drive down to roush and say stick an exhaust on for me but i have a budget to work with.i work in a fabrication type of enviorment and work with stainless daily and most of the lads have performace cars and make parts for them one being exhausts knocked up in a week or 2 of dinners so find the roush exhaust price a shocking amount to pay.ive seen the roush and yes its fair quality and build its just the price that makes me cringe

Here are some pictures of the 3R exhaust as I removed mine (I left the stock cats and downpipes and converted it to a true dual exhaust with no y-pipe).

This is where the 2 downpipes connect into the y-pipe (causes lots of restriction above 6,000 rpm)).

This the front downpipe after removing the y-pipe.

This shows the rear downpipe and front downpipipe after removing the y-pipe and silencer.

Here is a picture of the y-pipe, silencer and exhaust tips after removal.

This is what I replaced it with.

I was considering this mod when i had my 2.5, I went to a number of exhaust manufacturers (not sure where your based but pro-speed Cardiff is excellent) They all said it could be converted easily!! all they were going to do was replace my standard Silencer with what they called a "special" Which was as you described a silencer with one pipe in one end for inlet then one each end for the outlet.

Quotes were around £400....only reason i did not go for it was my diff gave up the ghost a few days later!!

Yes. It was changed along with a remap. The difference was night and day with power all the way to the red line. Eliminating the y-pipe is key.

The prices for Noble performance parts from Turbohoses (Hoover) are listed on his website:
http://turbohoses.com/Nobleperformance.htm
along with some typical "rolling road" results after various mods. Note that all HP values are measured at the rear wheels.
