Nice photos!

Have any GTO / GTO3 owners asked the factory how much a 3R front clam would cost? (presuming the attachment points etc are the same)

If I remember correctly then the original stand from the factory was it wouldn't be available but then I think the figure of £2000 was banded about. Not sure on the latest though, perhaps worth checking with the factory. They were going to produce a complete parts/options list for dealers and owners but I not sure if it ever came to fruition.

...RU thinking about reparing that busted M12 then - I wonder if one could deal directly with South Africa?!

Thanks, I shall make a point of asking whoever's there from the factory at PistonFest.

Re the mashed Noble - not a chance! If I bought that it would forever remain one of those "unfinished projects" on my garage floor and probably bring a rather rapid end to my "domestic arrangements" .
The reason I'm interested is that I quite like the look of the faired-in headlights and (I hope!) they provide better illumination and a quicker method of changing the bulbs. Having had the experience of changing the bulbs on my 3 there's no way on earth I would attempt to replace a blown bulb on a dark wet winter's night on the side of some road (I have a mental image of me grovelling around on the tarmac looking for the screws and washers I've just dropped!). However £2K makes it a reasonably serious decision to make (wonder how generous "her indoors" might be feeling this Christmas )

How the devil do you get those great icons to come up in the message text - when I select one nothing happens?!

You need to enter the markup codes against the image in the Smiles Legend, eg. to get a image you need to actually type in "colon"biglaugh"colon" in your message text - it's a bit tedious but I don't think there's any other way of doing it.

I don't understand, you actually type "biglaugh"
SO how do you know all of the icon names?!

Click on the smiles legend link to the left of the message box, this will bring up a window with all the codes and their corresponding pictures next to them. All you do then is type the code (including the colons at the start & end of the text). If you click the preview button at the bottom of the message box you will be able to see the graphics in your message before you post the reply.

I asked MV about getting a R front clamshell fitted to my 3 on order, they said the stance from the factory was 'not a chance', as they did not want to devalue the R cars.

hmmm...is that the manufacturer protecting resale values or the dealer? I had a similar answer when I asked HR Owen about retro-fitting a 6 sp box to the 3 I've just paid them a mere £52K for.

That's absolute rollocks if you want to fit a 6 speed box to your car you can. they're talking out of they're arses. Speak to the factory . I'm going to be getting one + the diff sometime soon on my 2.5. The cost is alot more than at build though.
