My speed camera cherry that is woohoo
Just received a NIP! First one cry
89 in a 60 on the A9 coming back from Scotland. It was a lovely 1400 mile driving in the Noble as well - until this.

What do you reckon this'll cost me?

89 in a 60, almost 50% over the local limit and 19 mph over the national limit. Lucky to keep your gonads.

Should just be 3 points and £60 fixed penalty. They don't normally bother issung a summons if its less than 30 over the limit but you never know .

Be careful out there

Carl, did the N.I.P. arrive within two weeks of the 'alleged' offence? If not, you can get off scot free.

Sorry to hear that Carl. frown

[doom and gloom mode]

I got camera vanned at 87 in a 60 and they threw the book at me. 5 points and a £350 fine and it was my first ever offence after 11 years of driving!! It was a wide empty straight road on a sunny day, I was slightly gobsmacked.

To top it off, I got done by another van a week later doing 67 in a NSL and got 3 more points cry

Speed limit on a dual carridgeway is 70 mph, so you should have only got 3 points and a £60 fine IMO. confused

Not necessarily. For example there are dual carriageways on the A20 that have 50 mph limits. The A102 into Blackwall Tunnel is dual carriageway and thats 30 mph.

Interesting this one, I’ve got a 94 in a 70 coming up, only car on the road, hidden mobile camera 11.30 at night unlit dual carriageway, I'm advised it's probably not an approved camera, but to find out I would have to plead not guilty and that’s to dangerous.

What really pisses me off is I’ve got a clean licence

Good luck. I was doing 89.6 in a 60 limit and got £550 plus costs and 5 pts.

My advice is you will go to Court. Throw yourself on their mercy. Get a letter from your employer saying how your job will be compromised or how your aged mother will die in her garret if you can't get there to feed her etc etc.

Magistrates guidelines say you have to be doing 30 over the limit to get a ban. I was 0.4mph under!

All depends on what the Magistrates feel like on the day. I have got done at 105 on busyish dual carraigeway and managed to get only 6 points. My father got caught on the same stretch on clear roads and was banned for 9 months. He was riding a bike tho, read that any way you like smile
For 89 you could get a 28 day ban but i think its pretty unlikely. I would go the points route if i was a gambling man. I may be expecting some too after my trip to Deven.
O/T any roads you want to recommend to be for Scotland?
