Rosso vs. Corsa

Ok, just had Rossos' (N4) put on the M400 to replace Corsas' and not 100% happy. I've run them for about 50 miles so far and when cornering can feel the car moving around a lot more than feels comfortable.... Will they bed in or am I stuck with it and have to build up confidence again? I'm pretty confident pressures etc. are as they should be.

The car was designed to run with Corsas, having sid that, tyres do need time to bed in.

The new tyres will have more depth than the old ones and the car may feel squirmy for a while till first the releasing compund is worn off and second, youlose some rubber.

Tyres tend to be at their best after losing some tread, this is one of the reasons why you see F1 cars go out on scrubbed tyres.

I will be interested to hear your comments in about 1k miles into the new tyres.

Are the 'Rossos' that different? I was assured they're the natural replacement to the Corsa, just as sicky, same profile etc.

Big difference, they are not a r compound, have more Block tread. The corsa's are a track bias tyre, where as the Rossos are a road tyre.
But they should improve a bit as the mould release compound wears off(should only take 100 miles or so)
Yoko A048's would be a close alternative to the corsa.

The Rossos are the natural replacement for SO3s on 3Rs...

If you have a good bum you'll notice the tread squirm, and it takes a good 200+ miles to get all the release compound off.

Give them a week and see what you think then.

200 miles ? 10 minutes on a few roundabouts in the evening..... sorted :-)

I've moved onto rossos after using S03 for years. I actually prefer them over the S03's, they seem to be much more progressive than the S03's on the limit.

Although, some ones said that they were producing the S03's again, although I think I'm going to stick with the Rossos for the mo.

I did the same and much prefer the Rosso to the SO3.

Having said that, I can't wait to get the set of Corsas in my garage onto the spare set of wheels that are being refurbed as we speak!

Toyo R888's or Advan A048's would be the natural alternatives to Corsas.

As has been said, the Rosso N4's are the alternative to SO3's.


You should not have been recommended Rosso's as a replacement for corsas on an M400 I'm afraid, but I'm sure they will be fine on the road and much better in the wet than any semi-slick will ever be.

I went for a track day PAX ride in a 3R with Rossos on and it too was moving around a lot - like the tyres were going off. I'm not sure what the pressure was out though.

I was told corsa's had stiffer / stronger side walls. Therefore I guess less give / movement.

Not really, they still move more than the Corsa did and although my confidence is growing, I found myself holding back on a couple of corners 'cos it didn't 'feel' right.

Could be tempted for the right price. Been quoted some good prices for the Rossos tho. Was about to order Gooyear F1 A's this week which are more expensive at 580 fitted, so let me know.

Well, I've advertised them here, perhaps I should give ebay a go? The dealer's offered me a very good price on a new set of 888's so I do need to shift the Rossos.

Put them in the classifieds on hear as well, but ebay may be your best bet for 2nd hand tyres.
