Just got back from watching a few Nobles, Ferrari's, Tivs and Porsches hacking around the Autodrome. Highlights included seeing the 3R in the flesh with it's tweaked engine (unofficially quoted today at 385bhp by one of the Noble guys ) and the Autocar driver doing fantastic power slides in a 996 Turbo

I think Joust was quite taken with the power of the new 3R, hey Joust ?

Took quite a few pics, i'll try and get them posted up later...............................

So has the R got the power hike as standard, or will it be gained from optional list components???

Your right was a great way to spend an afternoon
At least the new front tyres are scrubbed in
The backs seem to have lots of bit's of other peoples tyres stuck to them
Chris Harris (the Autocar man) said he had to get the car back to Porsche as he had only borrowed it for the afternoon
Now thats a job I could do

I think the power will be optional, although it has been achieved with bigger turbos, new cams and other bits and pieces but interesting hasn't required forged pistons. It does need the stronger 6 speed box however.........

Cool, so as I am speccing the 6 speed box on the 3, I should be OK. Although must admit it is tempting to change the order to an R purely for the front lights, I must say I really do like them. I wonder if residuals of the R will be stronger as well. Not sure if it is worth the extra cash just for the lights alone though (I'm not fussed about having leather in the car).

Yep top afternoon, nice to meet Joust, C3 GTK plus everyone else. The weather held off, tyres are now nicely scrubbed and fortunately didn't get through too much fuel at £1/litre

Will post pictures and video on www.gto3.com soon.

Hopefully, I need to go through the footage I've collected today and see what I can string together. Kept forgetting to press record in my haste to get on the track! Should have some nice shots, like when the GTI-6 driver decided to do a bit of off-roading, and the Autocar chap power-sliding the 996 round the bottom of the pits.

Fantastic day - I've also well and truely found the limit on the Noble.

The LSD is a big improvement for coming out of twisty corners - it positivly flew out of the hairpin bend at the end of the South circuit

I've yet to check the video etc. but if I can I'll get it up tomorrow/friday.

Such a top day, and such a bargain, I'm tempted to book another one...

If you compare the cost of the 3 to the 3R spec-for-spec the difference is only around £1000 - £1500 which is effectively buying you a LSD, new lights, leather and a Sony CD/radio (I may have forgotten something but this is a good deal!).

I was working it out as:

For the 3 -
£48,500 for the basic car (inc delivery etc)
A/C - £2,000
Alarm - £375
Stereo - £400
Start Button - £80
Mats - £60
6 sp box - £1500
Mettalic paint - £425
LSD - £500

Total - £54,000 ish

For the R-
£52,000 basic car (inc delivery etc)
A/C - £2000
Alarm - £375
6 spd box - £1500
Metallic Paint - £425

Total - £56,500ish.

So, £2.5k extra for the leather (which I dont't really want) and the lights (which I do want)... hmmmm.

Also the titanium car in the pictures doesn't have the new alloys on, is this because they are not available yet, or will the R come with the alloys from the regular 3??

I recall that the baffled sump is around (ball-park figures as I'm not checking my notes) £500 from new and £1000 retro-fitted. Apparently. you need this option from new for the factory to continue to warranty the car when used on the track.

Interesting point re the wheels - the sliver one's are used to "wheel" the cars around the factory. I asked whether I could have the silver instead of the black ones - I've been told yes and then no! Also note that the 3R at the car show had 4 bolts but apparently they will be knock-offs like the 3?!

Does anyone else know anything about this?

If I get a chance, I'll pop down to the car show and ask about the wheels.

This sounds like a brilliant day out. I don't know if it's mentioned anywhere else here but there's another Noble Autocar day on the 30 July. I've just booked it and will be(hopefully)taking my as yet to be delivered 3R
