I took my car in for a 6k service for the first time at Mole Valley - a 100 mile round trip, and although the team seemed friendly and helpful, a couple of things with them have made me question their true ability.
Twice, I phoned them to confirm that the plugs I needed were NGK PTR5A-10's, and twice I was told that was correct. Turn up..."no, it's PTR5D-10's". No appology, offer to sort it out, etc. Nothing!
Plus, completely wrong contact number for me.
Then eager to get home, got home to find they haven't stamped the service book.
What are Kerridges like? I may invest in the longer journey next time.

I still don't think they gave off a good first impression from a customer perspective.
Anyone else use them?
I use the guys at Minister Power just round the corner from me in Chatham to prep the car and do all the work on it for, and I think just use Mole Valley to diagnose problems and stamp the service book - when they remember to do so!

Did you leave the service book obviously in the passenger seat? Never had an issue with them stamping mine, and anyway, the invoice is proof enough. Sure if you just post them the book they will happily stamp it for you and send it back.
As for the plugs, I'm not sure I follow you. IIRC you wanted to buy the parts yourself? I'd have just left them to fit the correct ones myself as it prevents miss-hearing/mistakes.
Never used Kerridges I'm afraid. Moley has done every one of my service (and they have been perfect) apart from one where Roush did the 12k at the same time they fitted the new exhaust.

It's back to me and money-saving. By having the oil changed and getting the plugs myself, it got the service down to £250 inc. VAT. 50% off, so I cannot fault them in that respect.
It just seemed that their attitude and the fact that they'd confirmed I had the correct plugs on two seperate occassions put me off a bit.

coolant etc, plus adjustment to a window and two new bulb holders.
then the front turbo hose blows off after 50 miles.

Only had the service a bout a month ago but have decided to either do it myself or go to what was TVR North London at Barnet.Servicing these cars is not as complicated as some may imagine, after all most of the engine is ford derived and as for chassis it's all Rover Peugeot AP Lockheed etc for spares.
I'm going to do oil changes every 2K miles inc filter (ford Part)after that it's lubrication and adjustments.

FFASH means a lot to the saleability, and hence price, of a car. There have been a few Nobles without that that have hung around for ages, and even newbies on hear continue to repeat post about them.
Lemmings and all that, but if you want to shift it quickly then it means a lot. If you have bought a 'keeper', or don't give a stuff about resell, then you takes your pick.

Its amazing tho that the only dealer that seems to get good coverage is Kerridges. If all the dealers were getting praise i would be willing to spend twice as much. real catch 22. My car is at Kerridges again ! I must say that David in the Service Dept is always helpfull and polite. I've had a gearbox changed,M400 linkage fitted,a service and a big crash repair done there and I really cannot fault the workmanship.It has taken ages to get done sometimes but thats a parts issue with the factory I think.
