Once upon a time this forum was a happy place where non Noble experts could post casual questions without fear of being flamed. We were proud that we were friendlier than forum X or Y; this is no longer the case.
Do some of us believe that because we own a Noble and can use a spanner that we are some kind of motoring royalty? Well you are not, having knowledge in itself does not make you a better person, how you use it does. If you use it to flame any question, regardless of how nieve it may sound to you, then you are just alienating any newbies and casual posters. Get a grip and take a hard look at yourselves.

Part of the Noble ownership experience is the friendly banter, the welcoming of new potential owners and sharing of knowledge with all and sundry.
I think you may be digging at the brake disc thread, and some of the comments made may be a little over zealous.
Maybe we all need to sit back a little and remember our roots.
Lets face it, at one point we where either non Noble owners, with no knowledge of the mark, or potential Noble owners that came here for advice and guidance.
I for one was both, and I purchased mine as a direct result of YOU lot.
The advice I got was superb and the welcome warm.

Alienating possible future owners can only be bad for the Noble market in general. May not make much of a difference but if enough people start muttering that we're a bunch of impatient snobs then they'll potentially look elsewhere for their next car.

...so much so that many of us refrain from posting so much these days preferring to communicate outside instead*
I've been formulating some theories for this change - cogs still whirring for now and glad to hear that I am not alone on this item.
*hmmm, how long before I'm going to be told to "Sod Off then" I wonder?!

Well, it's difficult for me to comment as I've only been a Noble owner for a week.
But I was coming on this forum months beforehand looking for people's advice and hints and tips. I'm not mechanically-minded, and I didn't go out and spend £55k on a car like someone suggested. I spent less than half that on a fine example of an early M12 because I developed the passion for it, the passion that I thought everyone on here shared.
And I don't run my own business and am not made of money, and I'm sure a lot of you guys aren't either. But I thought the idea was to share my knowledge with people who, in turn, may be able to help others out and share their knowledge too, as opposed to being laughed at when I say I don't want to go and line other people's pockets with £50 notes who decide that people with exotic motor cars can afford to be ripped off.
Anyway, now I feel better, I just want to say thank you to those who have helped me - and continue to do so - in such an early stage of Nobility for me.

interesting, i have noticed the shall we say "decline" gradually over the last few weeks as i have fishing around the forums for a few moths whilst getting ready to get my first noble.
my initial thoughts when i found this forum was how mature and genuine the posts/threads seemed to be.
i first thought this of the MLR when i got my first evo some years ago, how mature it seemed in contrast to say scoobynet. over a couple of years the forum slowly changed and aggro, childish comments etc etc started to seem commonplace.
so... i got shot and bought a skyline GTR, now those forums seemed at the time mature and sensible but sure enough over the last year it too is going the same way.
so... i got shot of the GTR and am now looking for a noble, i had noticed the odd "remark" creaping in here and there over the lasr few weeks but sort of assumed it was probably just me that noticed it or maybe i was being over sensitive, hope these forums arent gonna go downhill as i havent even got the noble yet.

I think what happens as a car model gets older is that the potential owners ( and then actual owners ) will change over time. A new Noble was £50k ish but now you can get for say, £25k. That price drop will attact people who can manage £25k but not £50k. If you want an even more extreme example, the Esprit V8 is a case in point. £60k new, now you can get one for £15k. Plenty of people can afford £15k but not so many at £60k. Then what happens is those who have bought at £15k will baulk at £1500 for two pieces of steel ( the example that has popped it's head up, i.e. discs ) but those at £60k will pay it happily.
Lots of owners of Noble/Lotus/Porsche or whatever have bought an older exmaple ( me included ) as a pride and joy and it may well take a fair amount of their income to run it so I don't think it's on to mock them becuase they ask questions about saving some money where they can.

I think the post above has it spot on, about the kind of owners the Noble now has. If i had bought one at 60 odd k i would probably post differently and wonder why in the name of hell someone would post something so trivial as a question about a 1k necessity. I personally think the Nobles are going to genuinely deserving people who actually care about cars and driving. They care enough to come here and do research for a start!
At the moment my income is 0 so i like the idea of listening to and finding cheapeer alternatives to "Noble" spec parts. I have been given a great amount of help from people on this site and i am truely appreciative to those. I have also not been an owner for long, and do not intend to keep the car ( not the forums fault
) but this forum has helped me grately and corrected me many many times!!!
Just seems odd to me there can be at times almost willy waving over who can spend the most at service time etc. Reminds me of my old Fiat Coupe. Come belt change time Fiat needed to take the engine out and charge 1200 quid for the priveledge of replacing 12 quids worth of belt. Specialists could do the same in a day at about 400. Hopefully new blood AND the help of the americans will keep improving this brand and finding new ways to do things and new components to use at more affordable prices.

It could be closed, but, IMHO, that wouldn't be fair on the people at work who haven't seen the thread and would want a have a say (the thread is only 5 1/2 hours old as I type). And I think that, should they want to, the people concerned can reply to accusations of "flaming" and "willie waving". As I said, IMHO.

Lets all be happy I know I am because I officially become an owner on Saturday, I Agree a whole lot about some of the posts on here and how us paupers are happy to be able enter the noble realm. As a member who hasn't had a lot posts I have been reading and researching for some time now and have found this forum has a great wealth of knowledge and without this information I would definitely have chosen a different car. Most of the postings I have read are from people who seem genuinely interested in sharing knowledge in a fairly friendly environment
I do not post a great deal, less than I used to. When I purchased my Noble two years ago and was looking for information, people on here were very helpful, very rarely was there any snide remarks. Things have changed quite a lot but I still think most on here will help where they can.
